  19. Q. Are you guys ever gonna charge for DOS?

  21. A. No, DOS is the teaser program (and a mighty fine one at that :) )

  25.    what do you guys have in store?

  27. A. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and these were only my first 
  28.    couple of ideas...

  31. Q. What happened to a universal chat program in 1.0?

  33. A. We changed Kahns chat model to be based on IRC. You can still use the
  34.    PCON DOS program to communicate with other DOS users and Win95 users can
  35.    still get and use the old chat. We are addressing this since it is our 
  36.    #1 priority and Kevin promised me he'd have it done soon...

  38. Q. When is the ATF specific version coming out?

  40. A. The verison of kahn  contained in this zip is still freeware. As soon as 
  41.    we get an IRC client available for DOS and finish or next compression model, 
  42.    we will release the ATF version.

  57. A. Well we are biased towards the Windows platform right know, but if you 
  58.    really wanna port it and program it, email me.

  63. A. Well we have really thought about this more and more we are leaning towards
  64.    no. Most new games are target at the Windows platform and we are focusing 
  65.    all our efforts there.

  68. Q. Why should I use Kahn when I already have another IPX gaming driver?
  69.  
  70. A. Why not? Give it a try, you might find that some games play much better
  71.    over Kahn than when played over other IPX drivers. Kahn uses less memory,
  72.    has a custom high speed IP stack, reduces traffic sent by games for more
  73.    modem bandwidth. Besides if you use DOS games only, you can't beat the 
  74.    price.

  77. Q. How does this 'optimization' stuff work?

  79. A. If I told ya, I'd have ta..., well never mind. Playing some IPX games
  80.    over a modem is like trying to fill your cars gas tank using a straw. 
  81.    Kahn addresses this and tries to make the straw at least as big as a 
  82.    garden hose.

  85. Q. Do I really need a Pentium?

  87. A. No, but it will make your gameplay much better.

  90. Q. This thing locks up on me, whats the deal?

  92. A. Sorry, try a different packet driver or PPP stack. Some are better than 
  93.    others. Also if you use Klos, try reducing the baudrate setting. If none
  94.    of these work, email me and I'll look into it.

  97. Q. Will it ever time out like Kali(tm)?

  99. A. DOS Kahn will run never have a restriction. Win95 Kahn will timeout 
  100.    three weeks after you install it.

  105. A. Because I could :). Online gaming is my only addiction, and I was tired
  106.    of that not enough memory message. And there is always room for one more
  107.    game program....

  110. Q. These optimizations rule! Why can I only play with 8 people though?

  112. A. Memory, memory, memory, I can increase it but it will cost you memory.
  113.    Eight is real playable too, there are other alternative but I need to 
  114.    know the games you want to play with more than 8 players.

  119. A. Must be a bug :), let me know the game you are trying to play with and 
  120.    I will tell you why it fails. Turn it off and play and then email me.

  128. Q. I am using AT&T Worldnet and I can't get the DOS version to work, the 
  129.    Win95 version works fine though, whats the deal?

  131. A. AT&T uses CHAP for PPP authentication. Win95 supports this but the 
  132.    shareware version of the Klos PPP stack does not. Klos does ship a 15 
  133.    minute restricted version of their PPP stack that includes the CHAP
  134.    protocol. Please try this out and purchase it from Klos if it works for
  135.    you.

  138. Q. How do I use Kahn over Ethernet?
  139.  
  140. A. You need a packet driver for your network adapter or you can use one of 
  141.    the packet driver shims for DOS driver. Packet drivers for most adapter 
  142.    can be found at www.crynwr.com.

  144.    Once you have a packet driver installed and working, just configure the
  145.    PPP option in the KAHN.CFG file to no. Enter your IP address and other
  146.    network information and away you go?

  149. Q. How can I be a server?

  151. A. The server binaries for popular OS's are on the FTP site. You can 
  152.    download and use them and they are self documenting.

  155. Q. My ISP has a different OS than what you provide, how can we get a version
  156.    for our server?

  158. A. Email me and we can compile it for you or with a Non Disclosure agreement
