- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. How to use the program ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- This section describes how to use the program.
- To go to the description of the MENUS <--click here.
- To learn something about the CONFIGURATION<--click here.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Start ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- To use the archive-functions it's necessary to change the OS2COM.INI to your
- needs!
-
- How to use the OS2COM.INI is described detailed at a different place in this
- manual.
-
- Together with the original archive you should have received the following
- files:
-
- OS2COM.CFG - Contains all settings you can configure in the Configuration
- menu.
- Please do not edit the file manually!
- OS2COM.EXT - Contains the definitions for file extensions.
- Here you can configure which program to start for which extension
- and the color you want to see them in the file list.
- OS2COM.MNU - Contains the User-Menu (F2).
- OS2COM.SSV - some funny maxims for the screen saver.
-
-
- The OS/2-Commander should be started with the OS2C.CMD.
- This is the only way to change to the current drive and directory when leaving
- the program. If you don't need it (e.g. if running in a window) of course you
- can run it by starting the OS2COM.EXE directly.
-
- Parameter:
- The OS/2-Commander supports the start parameter /c:<filename>
- The standard configuration file used by the OS/2-Commander is OS2COM.CFG. With
- this parameter you can define an alternate configuration file.
- Example: os2com /C:d:\os2com\thomas.cfg
-
- The OS/2-Commander now will also use a file "thomas.ext" for the extension
- definitions.
-
- By specifying a full pathname you can also store the configuration file in a
- different directory. If no drive and path is specified, the OS/2-Commander will
- search for OS2COM.CFG in its home directory.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2. The Menus ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- With the F9 key or a mouseclick at the top row you can open some menus.
- Left Files Commands Options Right
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2.1. Left / Right ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The first 5 menu entries correspond to the appearance of the filelist in the
- left and right window.
-
- Full shows the first 13 characters of the filename plus filesize and date and
- time of the last modification of the file.
-
- Medium shows the first 19 characters plus filesize and date.
-
- Wide shows the first 28 characters of a filename plus the filesize.
-
- Large shows up to 38 characters of the filename.
-
- Brief shows the first 12 characters of the filenames displaying 3 columns of
- filenames in one window.
-
- In the 132 columns videomode the filename is expanded in each mode, in the
- Brief mode you will get 5 columns of filenames. Picture: A window in Medium
- mode with 132 columns screenmode.
-
- Info shows some information about the current drive and path. There can be only
- one Info-window at a time and you can only switch the non-active window to an
- Info window.
-
-
- The next 5 menu-options have influence on the way filelists are ordered. The
- aktive order is marked with a small hook.
-
- Name will sort filelists alphabetically by filenames.
-
- Extension will sort filelists alphabetically by file extensions (.EXE, .COM).
-
- Date will sort filelists by file dates.
-
- Size will sort filelists by file size.
-
- Unsorted shows the files in the same order as they are stored in the directory.
-
-
- With Drive you can change the current drive.
-
- With Re-Read you can force the OS/Commander to read the current directory
- again. This is especially useful after diskchanges or file modifications by
- external programs.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2.2. Files ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2.3. Commands ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Tree shows the directory tree of the currnt drive (ALT-F10).
-
-
- Find File searches for a file (ALT-F7).
-
- You can specify where to search for the file.
- don't scan network drives will only search the file on local drives, scan all
- drives will search on all drives if the preceding option was set
- scan only current directory and subdirectories will only search for the file in
- the current directory and its subdirectories.
- You can enter a Searchstring. If you do so, every file will be tested if the
- searchstring is found in the file.
-
- The search for files can be interrupted at any time with ESC Only those files
- found until that moment will be displayed then.
- The files that were found can be viewed as usual with F3 and edited with F4. It
- is also possible to copy, move or delete the files. If no files are marked, the
- scrollbar indicates the file for the operation. Single files can be marked with
- Space or Insert. If a directory is marked, then all files and subdirectories in
- that directory are also marked. + on the numeric keypad tags all files, - will
- unselect all files and * will invert the selection tagging all files that are
- not tagged and vice versa.
- RETURN on a directory name changes to that directory, if the scrollbar marks a
- file, the OS/2-Commander changes to that directory and puts the scrollbar onto
- that file.
-
-
- History List of the last Commands that were executed (ALT-F8 or CTRL-ALT-F8)
-
- The last commands that were entered will be displayed in a window. The number
- of commands that the OS/2-Commander will keep can be configured under
- Options/Configuration/Other Options. The default value is 100.
- If the History-window is called by pressing CTRL-ALT-F8, only those commands
- begining with the string on the command line will be displayed.
-
- In the history list you can move the scrollbar with the Arrow Keys. RETURN
- executes the command immediatly, CTRL-RETURN copies the command to the command
- line at the bottom for further editing.
-
-
- Panels on/off swaps the OS/2-Commander-windows with the OS/2-tasks (CTRL-O)
- making it possible to look "behind" the OS/2-Commander. This will not work with
- DOS-Tasks.
-
-
- Compare directories compares the contents of 2 directories (CTRL-N).
-
- The left and right window's directories are compared and those file that do not
- exist or have an older file date in the other directory are marked.
-
-
- DiskCopy copies a diskette (CTRL-F9).
-
- The only choice you have here is the drive-letter A: or B:. A 100% identical
- copy of the diskette will be created.
-
-
- Make diskimage creates an image of a diskette.
- This function will create an imagefile of the diskette in the current
- directory. First, the diskette-drive for the operation must be chosen, then a
- name for the imagefile must be entered. Afterwards the diskette will be read
- and the imagefile will be written to the harddisk. This imagefile should be
- compatible to the VMDISK-function of OS/2. It should be possible to start a
- DOS-Task from such an image. (REM Works fine on my system [Frank]).
-
-
- Write image to disk writes an imagefile back to a diskette.
- The scrollbar must be placed on the imagefile that shall be written back to a
- floppy disk.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2.4. Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Configuration configures The OS/2-Commander.
-
- Please read the chapter Configuration
-
-
- Video mode allows you to configure the number of textlines (CTRL-F6).
-
- You have the choice between 25, 28, 30, 34, 43, 50 and 60 sreenrows. Depending
- on your video-hardware and the number of columns you choose, some of the modes
- will not work, e.g. 50 or 60 rows with 132 columns will not be possible with
- every vga-card.
-
-
- 132 column mode will switch from 80 to 132 columns and back (SHIFT-F10).
-
- In the 80 x 50 or 80 x 60 modes the switching will probably not work. This
- depends on your video adaptor and the modes it provides.
-
-
- Save Configuration will save the current settings (SHIFT-F9).
-
- If Auto-Save Configuration is switched off, you can save the configuration
- here.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3. Configuration ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The configuration is mainly done in the menu Options/Configuration. It contains
- the following options:
-
- Window options - Options for the left and right window and general behaviour
- of the OS/2-Commander.

- With this switch you can, in addition to F9, also pop up the menu with the ALT
- key.
-
- Menu NC-compatible
- With this switch enabled The OS/2-Commander will behave a bit more
- NC-compatible. Right now all what's different from normal behaviour is the F9
- key. The menu will not pop up immediately and you can use the cursor keys or
- the first letters of the other menus to pull them down.
-
- Show GIF-resolution
- If enabled, the resolution of GIF-files under the scroll bar will be shown if
- the opposite window is the Info-Window.
-

- the same way as on FAT-partitions (directories upper-case and files lower-case)
- or in their original style.
-
- Restore stored paths
- With this option enabled, the OS/2-Commander will start the left and right
- window in those directories entered under "Directories/ Left and right window".
- Once this function is enabled, the paths for the windows will not be saved any
- more. If you want to find the same directories every time you start the
- program, aktivate this function, change to the directories you prefer and save
- the configuration with SHIFT-F9 or with the menu-entry "Save Configuration".
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3.2. Colors ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- This menu sets all the configurable colors.
-
- Colors can be changed by entering the corresponding number or simply with the
- mouse by clicking first at the option you want to change and then at the
- color-field in the middle.
-
- Main window FG is the foreground color of the filelists.
- Main window BG is the background color of the filelists.
-
- Scroll bar FG is the foreground color of the scrollbar.
- Scroll bar BG is the foreground color of the scrollbar.
-
- And so on...
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3.3. Directories ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- This is where you can specify a path for temporary files, the path for your
- wcd-database, the startup-directories for the left and right window and the
- directories you wish to access with the keyboard-macros (Alt-1 to Alt-0).
-
- You should at least enter a path for temporary files. This works best with a
- directory you don't use for anything else. If the directory does not exist, it
- will not be created automatically. If no directory is specified, the
- OS/2-Commander will create one (OS2COMTemp in the home-directory of the
- OS/2-Commander).
-
- The path for the directory database (wcd) must be specified with the filename
- for the database file! The default filename is WCD.DB and its position is the
- root directory of drive C:. This database contains all the directories the
- OS/2-Commander accesses for example with the tree function (Alt-F10) or the
- warp function (Ctrl-F7).
-
- Keyboard-macros are directories you can reach by pressing ALT+<number>. These
- pathnames may be entered manually or by pressing SHIFT+ALT+<number>. The
- current directory will be saved in the corresponding field then.
-
- For Path left/right window please see Restore stored paths in chapter Window
- options.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3.4. Editor/Viewer ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- Allows to quit The OS/2-Commander with the ESC key.
-
- Confirm program quit with F10
- This switch will ask for a confirmation when leaving the program with F10.
-
- Quick-Search moves down
- Defines the behavior of the QuickSearch-function. If activated, QuickSearch
- moves down even if the name matches the current filename, if not activated, the
- scroll bar stays at the current file as long as the search string matches the
- name.
-
- Pause after external commands
- If this feature is enabled, the OS/2-Commander will wait for a keypress after
- execution of an external program.
-
- Update dir. database after creating/deleting
- The OS/2-Commander will update the directory database (used for tree- and warp
- to directory- functions) after creating or deleting directories when this
- feature is enabled.
-
- UNARJ supports single files
- There is a version of UNARJ.EXE 2.41 available that is modified by Kerry Flint.
- This version supports extraction of single files. The normal demo version by
- Robert Jung doesn't! If you have this version, the OS/2 version is used for a
- lot of things we had to use the DOS version before.
-
- Restore original path when unpacking archives
- If enabled, this feature allows you to restore the original paths when copying
- files from an archive.
-
- Auto-save Configuration
- If this is switched on, the OS/2Commander will save any changes in the
- configuration automatically.
-
- scan network drives for database
- With this switch turned off, network drives will not be added to the directory
- database WCD.DB.
-
- Use NCOPY on NETWARE drives
- If this function is turned on, the OS/2-Commander will use NCOPY to copy or
- move files on NETWARE-drives.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3.6. Other options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Printer port
- Specify your printer port here. This may be any legal device, for example
- LPT1,LPT2,COM1 or even a filename to redirect printing into a file.
-
- save how many commands (History)
- The OS/2-Commander saves the executed commands from the history-window to the
- file OS2COM.HIS at progam exit, loading these commands back into memory at the
- next program start. By entering a number here you can define the maximum number
- of commands to save to the file. I recommend to chose a number below 1000.
-
- Video mode
- The video mode to use in a full sreen session may be configured here. These are
- the possible modes:
- 1=25, 2=28, 3=30, 4=34, 5=43, 6=50, 7=60 lines
- If you enter 0 here, the video mode will not be changed at program start.
-
- Video mode in window session
- This configures the video mode to use when started in a window. Possible modes
- are the same as above.
-
- Screen saver
- Specifies after how many minutes the screen saver will start. Enter 0 to switch
- the screen saver off.
-
- Date format
- Defines the format of date fields.
- 1 = european format (DDMMYY), 2 = US format (MMDDYY), 3 = japanese
- format(YYMMDD)
-
- Date separator
- Defines the character to use as a separator in the date fields.
-
- Time separator
- Defines the character to use as a separator in the time fields.
-
- Decimal separator
- Defines the separator to use in numbers.
-
- Parameter for new tasks
- This defines the parameter that OS/2-Commander should use to start a new task.
- /FS means Fullscreen-Session, /c means that the task is closed after the
- program finished. Type "help start" at the command line to get a detailed
- explanation and more parameters.
-
- Directory-Warp flags
- Here you can define how the OS/2-Commander behaves when when scanning drives or
- searching for directories (Ctrl-F7). .br A slash must be entered before each
- switch. For example: "/c".
-
- Possible switches are%colon.
-
- /a : Show all directories.
- when the OS/2-Commander finds more than one exactly matching
- directories
- , only those directories will be listed that match the search string
- exactly.
-
- With the switch /a enabled, all directories that contain the search
- string
- anywhere in their names will be listed.
-
- /b : Shows only those directories that begin with the search string.
-
- /c : CD-ROM drives will not be scanned.
- By default, the OS/2-Commander scans all drives. If you don't want
- cd-rom drives
- to be scanned and added to the directory database,
- define the switch /c here.
-
- /d : Search only on current drive.
- Only the current drive will be searched for the directory you are
- looking for.
-
- /e : Shows the list of matching directories even if only one match was
- found.
-
- /s[x] : Shrink search string.
- This switch will influence the OS/2-Commander's behavior
- in the case that no matching directories are found. To shrink the
- string
- means to cut off the last character of the search string. This is very
- useful
- if you belong to the people who hit enter and one of the nearby keys
- together
- and produce input like "mydir#" when wanting to enter "mydir" very
- fast.
- 0: (/s0) Do not shrink string and abort (default).
- 1: (/s1) Shrink search string and try again.
- 2: (/s2) Shrink string, try again and show list
- even if only one match was found.
-
- /s (without number) is equivalent to /s1.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.4. The keys ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- CURSOR-Up/Down (or mouse) moves through the files.

-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.6. The OS2COM.MNU ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The OS2COM.MNU contains the User-mene that is activated with F2. It is possible
- to use more than one menu. OS/2-Commander will look in the current directory
- for the OS2COM.MNU, and then, if none was found, in the directory that contains
- the OS2COM.EXE.
-
- Structure of the OS2COM.MNU:
-
- Key : MenuItemName
- f:
- Command1
- Command2 ...
-
- Key: defines the key that is used to start this menu entry, the following text
- (MenuItemName) is shown as Menu-text in the menu.
- All other lines are normal commands like in normal batch files.
-
- EXAMPLE:
- F2 : Maximus Filebase Compiler
- f:
- cd \max
- fbp
-
- F: Format Drive A
- format a:
-
- F9 : View Fax
- cdd d:\zfax
- zfaxg vf [%P]\[%F]
-
- You can use 4 different macros in the commands.
- [%F] will insert the currently highlighted file name into the command line,
- [%P] the current path name,
- [%D] the current drive.
- [%T] in a command line executes the command once for each tagged file.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.7. The OS2COM.EXT ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- You may define different colors for different extensions (for example: EXE,
- COM, INI...).
- Just enter the extension (incl. ".") and the number of the color.
-
- Example:
-
- .EXE 12
- .INI 15
-
- Following colorcodes are legal:
-
- 0 = black
- 1 = darkblue
- 2 = darkgreen
- 3 = magenta
- 4 = red
- 5 = violet
- 6 = brown
- 7 = white
- 8 = light blue
- 9 = grey
- 10 = light green
- 11 = cyan
- 12 = light red
- 13 = light violet
- 14 = yellow
- 15 = bright white
-
-
- In this section you can define which program to start with which extension.
- ENTER on a filename with one of these extensions will start the defined program
- and give the filename as parameter to it.
- Pass a full filename to the program with !.!
-
- !.! will pass the full filename and extension to the external program, for
- example: TOM.TXT
- !. will pass only the filename with the point to the program, for example:
- TOM.
- ! passes only the filename without the point and the extension, for example:
- TOM
-
- inf: c:\os2\view !.!
- doc: F:\OS2\QEDIT\Q !.!
- txt: F:\OS2\QEDIT\Q !.!
- pcx: f:\os2\pmview\pmview !.!
- gif: f:\os2\pmjpeg\pmjpeg !.!
- jpg: f:\os2\pmjpeg\pmjpeg !.!
- lbm: f:\os2\pmjpeg\pmjpeg !.!
- bmp: f:\os2\pmjpeg\pmjpeg !.!
- mod: D:\sound\wow\wowii !.!
- mec: f:\max\meccap !.!
- ipf: i:\toolkt21\os2bin\ipfc /INF /S !.!
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.8. The OS2COM.MSG ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The OS2COM.MSG has to be in the same directory as the OS2COM.EXE.
- It contains a couple of messages that OS/2-Commander will show at specific
- actions or errors. There is an ENGLISH.MSG available that contains the english
- messages and a DEUTSCH.MSG that contains the German messages. If you prefer the
- German language rename the DEUTSCH.MSG to OS2COM.MSG.
-
- Please do not edit the *.MSG- files, this will lead to unpredictable failures
- of the OS/2-Commander!
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.9. The Screen-Saver ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The screen saver is automaticaly activated after the number of minutes without
- pressing a key defined in the menu options/configuration. If defined as 0, the
- screen saver is not activated. You can activate the screen saver immediately if
- you move the mouse cursor to the upper right corner. If the mouse cursor is in
- the lower left corner the screen saver is deactivated.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.10. Archive-Files ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The OS/2-Commander has an integrated Archive-Viewer.
- Archives are shown like normal directories. Inside an archive you can view,
- copy, move and delete files. It can handle the archive types ZIP, LHZ, ARJ,
- ZOO, ARC, SQZ and RAR and the self-extracting archives of ZIP, LZH and ARJ.
- With a definition in the OS2COM.INI it is possible to use every other arcer.
-
- The following programs are needed to use the archive-viewer:
-
- ARJ: "ARJ.EXE" from Robert K. Jung and the OS/2-version "UNARJ.EXE".
- The OS/2-version is only used for unpacking if you want to unpack all files and
- didn't give them a target directory. That's because UNARJ don't support any
- interesting command line switches. Otherwise ARJ (DOS) will be used.
- LZH: LH/2 2.22 from Peter Fitzsimmons (OS/2-version).
- ZIP: The ZIP 2.0.1 and UNZIP 5.12 for OS/2 from InfoZip.
- ARC: The OS/2-version 6.0 "ARC2.EXE" from SEA.
- ZOO: The OS/2-version 2.1 with above defined name from Rahul Dhesi.
- SQZ: The DOS-version 1.08.3 from J. Hammarberg.
- RAR: The DOS- or OS/2 version 1.50 or above from Eugene Roshal.
-
- The OS/2-Commander will detect archives files with a different than the
- standard-extension. When pressing ENTER e.g. on a ZIP-file with the extension
- ".SA0" OS2COM will detect a ZIP-archive and start the archive-viewer.
-
- To get full advantage of the archive functions you have to configure the arcer
- in the OS2COM.INI!
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.11. The DBF-Viewer / Editor ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The OS/2-Commander has an integrated DBF-viewer and editor.
- If the scrollbar is placed on a file with the exytension .dbf, F3 / F4
- automatically starts the dbf-viewer/editor (SHIFT- F3 will always start the
- standard viewer).
- You may edit records in a DBF- file, delete them, add new records at the end of
- the file and undelete previously deleted records.
-
- Please notice that the OS/2-Commander will never change Index-files that belong
- to databases! Whenever you edit an indexed field or pack the database, you will
- have to re-index the database afterwards!
-
- The functions in detail:
- With Page Up/Down you may scroll through the database, Home and End will move
- to the first / last record.
- If a record includes fields that cannot be displayed on one page you can sroll
- the screen with the arrow-keys.
- AAdds an empty record at the end of the file.
- D Deletes the current record from the file.
- U Undeletes a previously deleted record.
- F1 Shows the Help-window.
- F2 Displays some information about the database file and its fields.
- F3 Starts the browser that displays a list of the records.
- F4 or E Edits the current record.
- F5 Moves to record number.
- F7 or S Searches for a record. For further information read "Search- and
- Browse- Filters".
- F8 Packs the database. All records marked as deleted will be finally ereased
- from the file and can NOT be undeleted anymore!
- Please notice that the OS/2-Commander will never change indexes that belong to
- databases! Whenever you edit an indexed field or pack the database, you will
- have to re-index the database afterwards!
- F9 Allows you to enter filters for the browse-function (F3). Read also "Search-
- and Browse- Filters".
- F10 or Q exits the DBF-module.
-
- Search- and Browse-Filters
-
- The Search-function (F7) as well as the filters (F9) in the browser (F3) work
- after the following principles:
-
- If you enter only one Searchstring without any other options, every field in
- every record will be checked. All the records that contain the searchstring in
- any field will be listed.
-
- If you only want to search in a special field use this syntax.:
-
- @<fieldname> = <"searchstring">
-
- The searchstring must be put into quotation-marks. For example, if you want to
- search for the sting "WARP" in the field "PROGNAME", the correct syntax looks
- like this:
-
- @progname = "warp"
-
- You may combine up to 5 searchstrings with logical AND or OR, but you can't
- combine AND with OR.
- Enter a logical AND as ".AND." or as "&", a logical OR as ".OR." or as ",".
-
- The following contructions are possible for an AND-search:
-
- @<fieldname> = <"searchstring"> .AND. <fieldname> = <"searchstring">
-
- Example:
- @progname = "os2com" .and. progdesc = "Commander"
-
- or
- @<fieldname> = <"searchstring"> & <fieldname> = <"searchstring">
-
- Example:
- @PROGNAME = "warp" & PROGDESC = "server"
-
-
- The following contructions are possible for an OR-search:
-
- @<fieldname> = <"searchstring"> .OR. <fieldname> = <"searchstring">
-
- Example:
- @progname = "os2com" .or. progdesc = "567890"
-
- or
- @<fieldname> = <"searchstring">, <fieldname> = <"searchstring">
-
- Example:
- @PROGNAME = "warp", PROGDESC = "server"
-
- It is not possible to declare an OR just by leaving a <space>.
-
- @<feldname> = <"suchbedingung"> <feldname> = <"suchbedingung">
-
- Example:
- @progname = "warp" progdesc = "server"
-
-
- The following syntax will not work as expected and will lead to an AND-search:
-
- @NAME = "1234" .AND. TEXT = "5678" .OR. TEXT = "ABCD"
-
- Neither the searchstrings nor the separators are case-sensitive. There is no
- difference between '.AND.' and '.and.'.
- Fieldnames must exactly match an existing fieldname in the database, but this
- is also not case-sensitive.
- The searchstring can be located anywhere in the field. A search for '@PROGDESC
- = "warp"' will list every record that contains one of the following strings in
- the field PROGDESC:
- warp
- WARP
- warp 3.0
- Fixpak for Warp 3
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Problems and known bugs ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- This section describes known problems and how to solve them.
-
- You might run into problems when opening two nested archives, one in the left
- and one in the right window. You should avoid to do that.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. How to register the program ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Please read the REGISTER.GER or the REGISTER.xxx for your country!
-
- OS/2 Commander can be registered on Compuserve using the SWREG ID# 14055
