- The File Areas
-
- Contained in the file areas are all kinds of useful and neat files for your
- computer, ranging from text files to games to antivirus programs.
- Many of the files have an extension of ".ZIP" on them. You'll need PKUnzip
- to unzip them. Contact the SysOp for more information.
-
- The File Menu options are:
- ┌─────────────────────────┐
-
- <C>hange File Drawer
- Opens a different file area. You can think of the file areas as a
- file cabinet with lots of drawers, with files inside each drawer.
- Selecting this option displays a small prompt. You can experiment with
- the rest of the options when you're comfortable with it, but at first
- just push A to list all the drawers, and select the area you wish to
- open.
-
- <L>ist Files
- Shows you the list of files, with descriptions. Selecting this option
- displays a small prompt. Push T to list the files in the currently
- opened file area or A to list ALL the files starting from the first
- area. While viewing them you have the option to "flag" any files for
- download.
-
- <D>ownload File
- Download a file from the BBS onto your computer. If you have flagged
- any files it will get those files ready for download.
-
- <U>pload File
- Upload a file from your computer onto the BBS. All uploads are placed
- in a special area that only the SysOp has access to. He'll sort the
- uploads every now and then to put files in the appropriate areas.
-
- Scan for <N>ew Files
- Scans for new files that have been added since last time you checked for
- new files, and shows any new files to you.
-
- <T>ext Search Files
- Searches through the filenames and their descriptions for a specific
- text and shows them to you.
-
- <V>iew Archive
- Open up a ZIP archive to see what's inside it. You then have the option
- of viewing any text files within the ZIP or downloading any particular
- files in it instead of the whole archive.
-
- <E>dit Flagged File List
- Shows you the list of files you've flagged for download. You then have
- the option of removing any of those files from your queue (unflagging
- them).
