  15.   Dear Registered ALLFIX user,

  17.   We are pleased to bring you the second gamma for the next generation in
  18.   ALLFIX. As you will see, this version has number features that will make
  19.   using ALLFIX even easier and more pleasant then before.
  20.  
  21.   Please consult the UPDATE.LOG file for a complete list of all of the
  22.   changes that have taken place since the last official release. For a
  23.   quick overview of what is new in ALLFIX 5.0, then please consult the
  24.   WHATSNEW.LOG for a summarized list of new features.
  25.  
  26.   As you may have read in the international help echos, we have,
  27.   regrettably, changed the update policy. The consequence is that many
  28.   of you will have to pay a small update feel if you wish to use ALLFIX
  29.   5.0. Please consult POLICY.TXT for more information on the changes in
  30.   the update policy.
  31.  
  32.   Incase you haven't already done so, please take a moment and check out
  33.   our web site. We will try to keep you up to date with all of the changes
  34.   taking place, via the web site. You can find us at:

  38.   Updating your configuration files to this gamma version is really easy.
  39.   Simply follow the following steps:
  40.  
  41.           1. run UPDATE to update your Magicfile names and your Hatch
  42.              configuration.
  43.           2. delete your AREAS.FIX and .IDX file.
  44.           3. delete your NEWFILES.FIX and .IDX file.
  45.  
  46.              * note: These two files need to be deleted since the
  47.                      configuration for the FileFind and the BBS new file
  48.                      dirs setup has changed dramatically. Reconfiguring
  49.                      your areas will be very easy!
  50.  
  51.           4. delete your ALLFIX.DAT file.
  52.  
  53.              * note: There is a freeware program available on our website
  54.                      which can be used to convert your ALLFIX.DAT file to
  55.                      the new format. The name of the file is AFDATCVT.ZIP
  56.  
  57.           5. run ASETUP Index
  58.           6. run FCOMP
  59.           7. make sure to replace your old keyfile(s) with the new
  60.              keyfile, included in the release.
  61.  
  62.   And, last but not least, I want to remind you to make a backup of your
  63.   files before you begin installing this version.
