- FRAGMENTATION ANALYSIS UTILITY

- INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

- The Fragmentation Analysis Utility shows the state of file
- fragmentation on your disks. (This utility is for analysis
- only -- it will not defragment your files.) It runs under
- versions 3.5 and 3.51 of Windows NT[TM] Workstation and
- Windows NT Server.

- (Note: This utility is not intended to be run from a server to
- analyze remote disks over a network. To analyze local disks,
- install this utility on the local system to be analyzed.)

- The Fragmentation Analysis Utility runs on Intel[TM] platforms.
- It will analyze NTFS and FAT volumes.

- RUNNING THE FRAGMENTATION ANALYSIS UTILITY FROM A FLOPPY DISKETTE
- =================================================================

- Follow these steps to run the Fragmentation Analysis Utility from
- a floppy diskette:
-
- 1. Log onto your Windows NT system from an Administrator account.
-
- 2. Insert the floppy diskette containing the Fragmentation Analysis
- Utility into the appropriate drive on your system.
-
- 3. Use the Windows NT File Manager to list the files contained on
- the floppy diskette.

- 4. Double click on one of the following executable images:
-
- fauintfs.exe - for NTFS partitions
- fauifat.exe - for FAT partitions
-
- 5. Follow the instructions as they appear on your screen.

- RUNNING THE FRAGMENTATION ANALYSIS UTILITY FROM A HARD DRIVE
- ============================================================

- 1. Log onto your Windows NT system from an Administrator account.
-
- 2. Insert the floppy diskette containing the Fragmentation Analysis
- Utility into the appropriate drive on your system.
-
- 3. Copy all files from the floppy diskette into a directory on your
- hard drive. (Note: All the Fragmentation Analysis Utility files
- must be copied to the same directory.
-
- 4. Use the Windows NT File Manager to list the files you have just
- copied onto your hard drive.
-
- 5. Double click on one of the following executable images:
-
- fauintfs.exe - for NTFS partitions
- fauifat.exe - for FAT partitions
-
- 6. Follow the instructions as they appear on your screen.

- When done, you will have discovered the state of file fragmentation on your
- system. If you have any difficulty using this utility call 818-547-2050.

- ESI requires only that each copy carries its copyright notices indicating that
- the software is owned by ESI or its suppliers and is protected by United States
- copyright laws and international treaty provisions.

- you "AS IS". ESI does not warrant the functions contained in the Software

- California. Should any of the provisions of this Utility License be declared
- invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the balance of the license
