  4. Welcome to the new 32 bit version for ModemSta 2.0 for Windows95, a complete re-write 
  5. of ModemSta, using Delphi32.

  8. 1. Remarks.
  9.  
  10. * This version of ModemSta only runs with Win95.
  11. For Win3, ModemSta 1.9 (+update 1.9g) should be used.
  12. ModemSta does not run with any version of Win NT.
  13.  
  14. * ModemSta must be running before a communication program opens the port, otherwise 
  15. ModemSta will fail to detect anything.
  16.  
  17. * The log of received bytes will be incorrect for 16 bit programs that uses block receive. 
  18. The same problem will 32 bit programs that uses block receive have when not connected.
  19. Only one char/block will be counted. This is usually not a problem.
  20.  
  21. * To correctly show RD activity when connected with 32 bit SLIP/PPP using the Win95 Dialer, 
  22. ModemSta replaces lights.exe in the Windows system directory with its own copy. 
  23. The original lights.exe will be renamed to lights!.exe by the installation program and 
  24. will be restored when uninstalling ModemSta.

  26. You must also make sure the modem lights are enabled from inside the Windows 95 
  27. internet configuration program. (Usually it is.) 
  28. Follow these steps to enable the Windows 95 modem lights tray applet:
  29. 1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows 95 desktop.
  30. 2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
  31. 3. Right-click on the connection icon for your internet service provider and select 
  32. Properties from the popup menu.
  33. 4. Click the Configure button at the bottom of the dialog.
  34. 5. Select the Options tab and enable the "Display modem status" option at the bottom of the dialog.

  36. * The RD detection with 32 bit SLIP/PPP (section above) will not work correctly if You 
  37. have installed the ISDN update for Windows 95.

  40. 2. Uninstallation.
  41.  
  42. Use the UnInstall program (or the Control Panel) to remove ModemSta.

  44. If manually installed, delete the files in the ModemSta directory.
  45. If \win95\system\lights!.exe exists, delete lights.exe and rename lights!.exe 
  46. to lights.exe.

  50. 3. Additional remarks about this beta.

  58. The following changes have been made compared to previous beta versions:
  59. * Installation procedure: the uninstall icon now works correctly, the 'lights.exe'
  60. can not be removed if the count=0, added 'install.txt' before installation starts.
  61. * Better repaint routine, which only triggers repaint of display when actually needed.
  62. * Win NT 4 detection.
  63. * Improved installation script.
  64. * Seconds can now also be selected for inactivy detections.
  65. * Added "Alternative Method to Detect RD", Troubleshooting Tab, for different 16 bit detection
  66. for some programs.
  67. * Updated modsta95.vxd for better 16 bit RD detection.
  68. * Problem with modsta95.vxd detection when modemsta.exe not started in the "current directory".
  69. * Added "Minimize" in the Pop-up Menu, for situations when the titlebar is not visible.
  70. * Sound option added for Warn if Inactive.
  71. * RI detection when port is not open.
  72. * Time >24h in log now correctly indicated.
  73. * Problem when using AutoExit feature and re-starting. Fixed.
