  1. Welcome to the new 32 bit version for ModemSta 2.0 for Windows95, a complete re-write 
  2. of ModemSta, using Delphi32.

  4. Please read these instructions before continuing with the installation! 
  5. When finished reading, just close this window and continue!

  9. 1. General comments.
  10.  
  11. * This version of ModemSta only runs with Windows 95.
  12. * ModemSta must be started before a communication program opens the port, otherwise 
  13. ModemSta will fail to detect any port information.

  16. 2. Automatic installation.
  17.  
  18. * Run the automatic installation program, install.exe.
  19. * You can not install ModemSta while on-line! An essential part of the installation
  20. will fail, see 4, below.

  23. 3. Lights.exe
  24.  
  25. * To correctly show RD activity when connected with 32 bit SLIP/PPP using the Win95 Dialer, 
  26. ModemSta replaces lights.exe in the Windows system directory with its own lights.exe. 
  27. The original lights.exe will be renamed to lights!.exe by the installation program and 
  28. will be restored when uninstalling ModemSta. 
  29. This will fail, if You try to install ModemSta while on-line.

  31. A safety backup copy of the original lights.exe will be made, called lights.exe.Win95,
  32. in the system directory.

  35. 4. Activate "Display modem status".

  37. * You must also make sure the modem lights are enabled from inside the Windows 95 
  38. internet configuration program. (Usually, it is.)
  39. Follow these steps to enable the Windows 95 modem lights tray applet:
  40. 1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows 95 desktop.
  41. 2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
  42. 3. Right-click on the connection icon for your internet service provider and select 
  43. Properties from the popup menu.
  44. 4. Click the Configure button at the bottom of the dialog.
  45. 5. Select the Options tab and enable the "Display modem status" option at the bottom of the dialog.
