  40.     This directory contains the ELSA Windows Utilities
  41.     installed with the SETUP program from the ELSA WINNER disk
  42.     "Drivers for Windows 3.1" or with the SETUP program in the
  43.     \ELSAWARE\WINTOOLS directory of the ELSA CD.

  45.     This file contains new information which may not be printed in
  46.     the manual. If any information is contrary to the manual, the
  47.     contents of this file is to be applied.

  119. 3.1     Installation under Windows 3.1x

  121. 3.1.1   Installation from disk

  123.     Please use the installation program SETUP from the ELSA
  124.     WINNER disk "Drivers for Windows". Start Windows, select in the
  125.     "Program-Manager" "File"/"Run...", enter the commandline
  126.     "a:setup" and confirm with "OK". SETUP asks for your language
  127.     and may install the actual Windows drivers before a choice of
  128.     the ELSA Windows Utilities is shown (see 3.3 Choice of ELSA
  129.     Windows Utilities).

  182. 4.      Description of the Windows tools
  183.  
  184.     NOTE:
  185.     Please remark that not all of the following utilities are
  186.     available under Windows 95.

  189. 4.1     DCIset
  190.  
  191.     This program offers for graphics boards with DCI-support the
  192.     info about the actual DCI state and you have also the possibili-
  193.     ty to change this state between primary- and offscreen-support.
  194.     If you activate the offscreen-support you can use x- and y-
  195.     filters, too.
  196.  
  197.     With the Windows driver version 4.15 the funtion "Dithering"
  198.     is also supported.

  200. 4.2     DDRAWset
  201.  
  202.     This program offers for graphics boards with DirectDraw-support
  203.     the info about the actual DirectDraw state. 
  204.     If you activate the offscreen-support you can use x- and y- 
  205.     filters, too.

  208. 4.3     DESKman
  209.  
  210.     Using virtual desktop, DESKman offers the possibility to posit
  211.     messages in the middle of the actual cutting. For more informa-
  212.     tion see help <F1>.

  214.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  217. 4.4     ERGONOmeter
  218.  
  219.     The programm finds out the actual refresh and horizontal scan
  220.     rate. Ergonomic values appear in the green section.

  229. 4.5     GAMMAman
  230.  
  231.     ATTENTION:
  232.     This program supports only the boards of the WINNER 2000
  233.     and WINNER 3000-M/L graphics series and the GLoria!!!
  234.  
  235.     GAMMAman does not support MULTIman configurations!
  236.  
  237.     With the ELSA GAMMAman you can modify brightness, contrast, 
  238.     linearity, and threshold value. Some filters (e.g. posterize,
  239.     sinus) are offered. The gamma curve can be loaded, saved, 
  240.     smoothed, inverted, or set to standard value. For more
  241.     information click <F1> for help.

  243.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  250. 4.6     GLASSman
  251.  
  252.     The program GLASSman offers you a magnifying glass under 
  253.     Windows. You have several possibilities to activate the zooming 
  254.     of GLASSman. Starting the program will activate the zooming and 
  255.     the area pointed to by the mouse cursor will be enlarged.
  256.  
  257.     If GLASSman is already running you have three possibilities
  258.     to activate the zooming again:
  259.     1. Restart GLASSman. The programrecognizes that it has been 
  260.        started before and activates the running version.
  261.     2. Activate the running program with the ENTER key.
  262.     3. Use the hotkey you have defined in the option box.
  263.  
  264.     In the option box you can configure your favorite settings.
  265.     You can choose between different displays (border, 
  266.     magnificient) and zooming factors.
  267.     Additionally you can define the hotkey to activate the zooming.

  269.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  274. 4.7     POWERman
  275.  
  276.     By using the icon "POWERman" the special ELSA screen saver is 
  277.     installed into the "Control Panel", "Desktop" and the installa-
  278.     tion menu is opened. You can modify the times for stand-by-, 
  279.     suspend- and off-mode. Also locking the system by password pro-
  280.     tection is possible. For more information click <F1> for help.

  282.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  285. 4.8     RUNman
  286.  
  287.     After the installation of RUNman the place for the installation
  288.     file with your settings can be set:
  289.  
  290.     - at local installation under WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL
  291.     - in the network Windows directory
  292.     - nowhere, for testing program
  293.  
  294.     In the system menu "File..." you can add programs to the RUNman 
  295.     buttons (see help "Keyboard and mouse commands"), open programs,
  296.     watch the program item properties or delete icons from RUNman.
  297.     With the item "Language..." you can choose between "Deutsch" 
  298.     (german) and "U.K. English".
  299.  
  300.     NOTE:   
  301.     Click with the right mouse button on the title bar to get into 
  302.     the system menu under Windows 95.
  303.  
  304.     From the Microsoft File Manager and the HP Dashboard the icons
  305.     can be dragged into RUNman with the mouse (drag & drop).
  306.  
  307.     In the menu "Options..." many manipulations of RUNman are
  308.     possible. Use the <F2> key to open the menu in the RUNman
  309.     window.
  310.  
  311.     Keyboard commands:

  314.     <F10>                   Turn the title bar on and off
  315.     <Alt-F4>                Exit RUNman

  324.     The mouse commands are described in the help system "Keyboard 
  325.     and Mouse Commands". For detailed information press <F1> for
  326.     help.

  328.     To use RUNman everytime in Windows move the RUNman icon in the
  329.     group window "Startup" by pressing the Ctrl-key and move the 
  330.     icon with the mouse. The settings to RUNman are saved in a 
  331.     special installation file.

  334. 4.9     Terminator
  335.  
  336.     The ELSA Terminator offers the following possibilities:
  337.  
  338.     - abort Windows 
  339.     - restart Windows 
  340.     - reboot system
  341.  
  342.     The Terminator supports some command line options:
  343.  
  344.     RESTART     Set the program to "restart Windows".
  345.     REBOOT      Set the program to "reboot system".
  346.     NOCONFIRM   Suppresses the message "OK"/"Cancel", the action 
  347.             follows directly.
  348.     NOSELECT    Suppresses the choice between the different actions.
  349.             This has no influence to the security message.
  350.  
  351.     EXAMPLE:
  352.     Create new symbol in the File Manager with "File, New" and the
  353.     command line
  354.  
  355.        C:\WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL\TERMINAT.EXE RESTART NOCONFIRM NOSELECT
  356.  
  357.     Using this new symbol Windows will be closed and restarted
  358.     without any choice of termination and confirm message.

  363. 5.      Known Problems
  364.  
  365. 5.1     RUNman
  366.  
  367.     With Central Point PC Tools for Windows the standard hotkey
  368.     <Ctrl-Shift-Ins> to add symbols to RUNman does not work.
  369.  
  370.     There is the same problem with the HP Dashboard. Use drag & drop
  371.     to add symbols to RUNman (drag the symbol with the mouse and
  372.     drop it into the RUNman window).
  373.  
  374.  
  375. 5.2     SCREENman
  376.     
  377.     Using Windows for Workgroups 3.11 there may appear some 
  378.     problems with the multi I/O chip FDC37C665 from SMC. After
  379.     choosing an interface the system may halt. This error can be
  380.     avoided by changing the file COMM.DRV with the COMM.DRV from
  381.     Windows 3.1.
  382.  
  383.     The variable color temperature of the GDM-20H110 can be modified 
  384.     only with the front panel of the monitor. With "Cancel" the
  385.     value for the color temperature cannot be written back, the
  386.     choice in SCREENman is valid.
