- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Welcome to Web Organizer ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
-
- Welcome to Web Organizer V.01.05.05 for OS/2.
-
- Web Organizer(WebOrg) is a quick and easy tool to organize that growing
- list of bookmarks for Netscape/2 and WebExplorer.
-
- Web Organizer was formerly known as WebExplorer Organizer. Explorer was
- removed from the name to remove its primary association with WebExplorer.
- Yes, it still supports WebExplorer, but it also supports Netscape/2.
-
- Web Organizer is a tool with many features to give you the power to
- organize both WebExplorer's Quicklist and Netscape/2's bookmark entries.
- Once you have organized your bookmarks, Web Organizer will build WebPages
- that will be loaded as your Home Page when you run your browser of choice.
- By using these WebPages as your Home Page you will have quick access to
- the web sites you need to visit.
-
- Web Organizer is Shareware and only costs $15 to register. After thirty
- days you must either register it or discontinue use of it. The
- unregistered version is fully functional, except that it is limited to
- only 5 WebPages and a total of 20 WebSites. Please, support the Shareware
- community and register a Shareware program today!

-
- Web Organizer is easy to install and use. First, you must have the
- vrobj.dll version 2.1d file located in a directory in your config.sys'
- libpath. If you do not have vrobj.dll version 2.1d, you can find it on
- our Home Page; see Contacting ONG SoftWare for the HTTP address. Next,
- you need to run the Install( install.exe ) Program included in the
- WebOrg.zip file( this version cannot be installed over a version older
- than V.01.02.02 ). Once installed you can then run the Web Organizer(
- weborg.exe ) Program. The first time Web Organizer is run it will create
- a weborg.ini file with a set of default settings. Now you are ready to

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Installing ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
-
- The install program is used to install Web Organizer to you system.
- Optionally, it can create a desktop object for Web Organizer which
- contains the Web Organizer program, Web Organizer documentation, and Web
- Organizer purchase application.
-
- The Install program consists of six items.
-
- 1. Install to directory: (Entry Field)
-
- a. The "Install to directory:" entry field is where you enter the
- directory you want Web Organizer installed and its
- sub-directories created.
-
- 2. Create Desktop Object? (Check Box)
-
- a. When the "Create Desktop Object?" check box is checked the
- install program will create a Web Organizer desktop folder with
- the Web Organizer program, documentation, and purchase
- application. If not checked, it will not create the desktop
- folder. The default setting is to create the desktop folder.
-
- 3. Install log: (MultiLine Entry Field)
-
- a. The "Install log:" multiline field is a read-only field which
- tells what the install program is doing, as far as creating
- directories, moving files, and creating the desktop object. It
- will also display any errors that have occurred during the
- install process or tell you that Web Organizer has been
- successfully installed.
-
- 4. Install (Push Button)
-
- a. The "Install" push button will start the install process.
-
- 5. Help (Push Button)
-
- a. The "Help" push button will bring up this help file.
-
- 6. Exit (Push Button)
-
- a. The "Exit" push button exits the install program.
-
- The install program creates the following sub-directories under the
- directory you installed Web Organizer to and copies these files to those
- directories:
-
- <install directory>\weborg.exe Web Organizer's executable
- file
- <install directory>\weborg.hlp Web Organizer's help file
- <install directory>\weborg.inf Web Organizer's documentation
- <install directory>\purchase.exe Web Organizer's purchase
- executable file
- <install directory>\purchase.ico Web Organizer's purchase
- executable icon file
- <install directory>\purchase.app Web Organizer's purchase
- executable database file
-
- <install directory>\pages\ Web Organizer's sub-directory
- were it will store the
- WebPages it creates
-
- <install directory>\icons\ Web Organizer's Sub-directory
- were it stores its icons it
- uses
- <install directory>\icons\folder.ico Web Organizer's Folder icon
- file
- <install directory>\icons\webx.ico Web Organizer's WebSite icon
- file
-
- <install directory>\pics\ Web Organizer's sub-directory
- were it stores the graphics
- for the WebPages it creates
- <install directory>\pics\folder.gif Web Organizer's WebPage
- Folder graphic file
- <install directory>\pics\webx.gif Web Organizer's WebPage
- WebSite graphic file
-
- Once you have installed Web Organizer you can delete the files that were
- unzipped from the WebOrg.zip file.
-
- You are now ready to run Web Organizer. If you created the desktop folder,
- all you have to do is open the Web Organizer folder the install program
- created and double-click on the Web Organizer Icon. Otherwise, you will
- need to create a shadow of the weborg.exe file on your desktop or
- launchpad and double-click on it, or open an OS/2 Command Line window,
- change to the Web Organizer directory and run the weborg.exe.
-
- Note: You must have the vrobj.dll version 2.1d file located in a
- directory in your config.sys' libpath. If you do not have a copy of
- vrobj.dll version 2.1d, you can find it on our Home Page; see Contacting
- ONG SoftWare for the HTTP address.
-
- Note: It is safe to install Web Organizer over an older version( except
- for a version older than V.01.02.02 ). The install program will try to
- locate the path of your currently installed version. If it does not locate
- the path of your currently installed version, enter the path in the
- "Install to directory:". If upgrading from a prior version, please make a
- backup of the old directory in case of any errors.
-
- Note: This version of Web Organizer can not be installed over any
- versions older than V.01.02.02; if it is installed over a version older
- than V.01.02.02 then problems will occur and you will lose data. If you
- must install over a version older than V.01.02.02, please contact ONG
- SoftWare.

- want to change any settings that you prefer to change at this time.
-
- 3. The Main WebPage is the WebPage that will be set as your HomePage,
- and the page that all other first level WebPages and websites will be
- accessed from. The name of the WebPage is the title that will appear
- at the top of your HomePage when WebExplorer or Netscape is started.
- First, let's change the name of the Main WebPage to what you want
- your HomePage named; there are two ways of doing this as follows:
-
- a. Right-Click on the Main WebPage, a context menu will pop-up.
- Select the "Rename Main WebPage" menu option. A dialog box will
- appear prompting you to Please enter the new WebPage name:,
- enter the new Main WebPage name you want to use, and then press
- the OK push button.
-
- b. Alt+Left-Click on the Main WebPage name, you are now able to
- directly edit the name of the Main WebPage. Edit the name to
- what you want, then Left-Click on the Folder icon to save the
- changes or press the ESC key to cancel the changes.
-
- The Main WebPage should now display the WebPage name you changed it
- to.
-
- 4. Now that you have the name you want for your Main WebPage, let's add
- some WebPages to it. Right-Click on the Main WebPage, a context menu
- will pop-up. Select the "Add New WebPage" menu option. A dialog box
- will appear prompting you to Please enter the new WebPage name:,
- enter a name for the new WebPage you will be adding, keeping in mind
- that the WebPages are used to organize similar websites.( For
- Example: OS/2 Pages, Sports, etc... ) Once you have entered the name
- press the OK push button to add that new WebPage. You will notice
- that a new folder icon has appeared as a child to the Main WebPage.
- You can nest WebPages up to three levels by doing the above, except
- you want to Right-Click the WebPage that you want to add another
- WebPage to. Also, you can edit the name of a WebPage the same way you
- edited the name of the Main WebPage. Now repeat this step a few
- times, so that you have a few WebPages added.
-
- 5. Now that you have a few WebPages, you can start to organize your
- websites. Again, the WebPages are used to organize similar websites,
- so choose a website from the Web Sites Container that would belong in
- one of the WebPages you created. Now drag-n-drop that website onto
- the WebPage folder you want that website added to. You will notice
- that that WebPage folder now has a + next to it indicating that there
- are children to that WebPage. Also you will notice that that website
- in the Web Sites container now has hashmarks next to it, indicating
- that that website has been added to a WebPage already( it uses the
- URL to compare websites, so two websites with different names will
- still match ). Now press on the + next to that WebPage in the Web
- Pages container to expand the tree for that WebPage. You will notice
- that there is now a globe icon next to the name of the website you
- just added, indicating that that is a website. You can change the
- website name by using the Alt+Left-Click method mentioned above for
- the Main WebPage. Now repeat these steps a few times, so that you
- have a few websites added to a few WebPages. You can also add
- websites to the Main WebPage as above but by dropping it on the Main
- WebPage.
-
- 6. Now you can Build the WebPages to take a look at what you have
- actually done. First open the Settings Notebook by the "Settings"
- menu option on the main menu. Under Program settings choose either
- the "Create as WebExplorer HomePage" or "Create as Netscape/2
- HomePage" or neither or both depending on which browser you use. If
- you choose neither then you will have to manually open the Main
- WebPage from your browser. You would do this by choosing open HTML
- file from you browser and opening the "main.htm" file which can be
- found in the Web Organizer's pages sub-directory. Now that you have
- Web Organizer set up to build the WebPages for your browser you can
- Build the WebPages. Right-Click on the Main WebPage, a context menu
- will pop up. Choose the "Build WebPages" menu option; this will
- build the WebPages and set your browser to load the Main WebPage as
- your HomePage. Remember whenever you make changes to your WebPages
- and you want to save those changes you must do a Build WebPages for
- those changes to be saved.
-
- 7. Now open the browser you chose and you can see the WebPage you have
- created for yourself. First you will notice that the name you chose
- for your Main WebPage is displayed at the top of your HomePage. Then
- you have a line across the screen separating the Title of the page
- and your first webpage you added. Below this line you will find the
- WebPages that you added and any websites you added to the Main
- WebPage. By clicking on one of the WebPages, links will bring up
- that WebPage with the WebPages and/or websites you added to it. If
- you are on a Sub-WebPage you will notice that below the second line
- on the WebPage there is a index of all of your first-level WebPages;
- this makes it easier to move among your WebPages you have added. Now
- move back to the HomePage; in both WebExplorer or Netscape you can
- easily move back to your homepage by clicking on the HomePage Icon on
- their toolbars. On the Main WebPage you will notice at the bottom of
- it, it displays the E-Mail address for ONG SoftWare, ONG SoftWare's
- HomePage address, and the address for both the Frames and Non-Frames
- version of the "The Complete OS/2 Links Page!" HomePage. Please
- check out the "The Complete OS/2 Links Page!", it is maintained by
- ONG SoftWare and is updated regularly and contains many useful OS/2
- related sites( over 220 at last count ). The other two links to ONG
- SoftWare give you an easy way to contact ONG SoftWare or check ONG
- SoftWare's HomePage for an updated version, news, or new products.
- Lastly, you will notice that it displays the version of Web Organizer
- it was created by.
-
- 8. Since you now have a better understanding of what Web Organizer is
- actually doing you can try some more things to better organize your
- websites. Close you browser and go back to Web Organizer.
-
- 9. You can drag websites from one WebPage to another WebPage to move
- websites between WebPages. If the WebPage you want to move another
- WebPage website to is not visible on the screen, then you can use Web
- Organizer's copy, cut, and paste feature to move the website.
-
- 10. You can drag-n-drop websites onto websites in the Web Pages container
- to to either replace or update the website you are dropping the new
- website unto. This is useful when a website you visit changes its
- address. You would want to create a new quicklist or bookmark entry
- with the new address in your browser and then when you use Web
- Organizer the next time drag-n-drop the new website unto the old
- website.
-
- 11. If you have WebExplorer URL objects in folders or on you desktop you
- can also drag them to WebPages in the Web Pages container to add them
- to that WebPage.
-
- 12. If you want to delete a website from either the Web Sites container
- or the Web Pages container you can either use the context menu or
- drag-n-drop the website to the OS/2 shredder object.
-
- 13. Everyone likes a little order in their life. This is where the sort
- features come into play. You will not be able to use the sort
- features if you have the Auto Sort setting set to ascending or
- descending in the Web Pages settings page.
-
- This is were this tutorial ends, but there are still a lot more features
- and functions to Web Organizer. See Web Sites Functions and Web Pages
- Functions for a complete list and description of these features and

- carefully. If you download or run the software you are indicating to ONG
- SoftWare that you accept and agree to be bound by the terms set forth in
- this document. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions set forth
- in this document, you agree that you will not download or run the software
- and we thank you for your interest.
-
- 1. Grant of License The software is not public domain software nor is it
- free software. The use of the software, except for an initial 30-day trial
- period, requires registration. Non-licensed users are granted a limited
- license to use the software on a 30-day trial basis for the purpose of
- determining whether the software is appropriate for their needs. After
- this period, you must either register the software or remove it from your
- computer system. The use of unlicensed copies of the software outside of
- the initial 30-day trial period by any person, firm, business,
- corporation, government agency or other entity is strictly prohibited.
-
- Each purchase of Web Organizer comes with only one license. Each single
- user license grants you the right to use one copy of the software on a
- single terminal connected to a single computer (ie. CPU). A licensed user
- may use the software on different computers, but will not use the software
- on more than one computer at the same time.
-
- 2. Grant of Network License. A site license permits a company with
- multiple users to use several copies of the software on stand-alone
- computers, or to use a single copy over a network. A computer network is
- any combination of two or more terminals that are electronically linked
- and capable of sharing the use of a single software program. A licensed
- computer network is a computer network for which you have acquired and
- dedicated at least one version of the software (which can run alone or as
- a network server). If you wish to arrange for a site license, please
- contact ONG software for more details.
-
- 3. Copyright. The software is owned by ONG SoftWare and Andrew A.
- Phillips. The software is protected by copyright laws. All rights are
- reserved. You may either (a) make two copies of the software solely for
- backup or archival purposes provided that you reproduce all copyright and
- other proprietary notices that are on the original copy of the software
- provided to you, or (b) transfer the software to a single hard disk
- provided you keep the original solely for backup or archival purposes. You
- may not copy the written materials accompanying the software.
-
- 4. Other Restrictions. You may not rent or lease the software. You may not
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works from
- the software. Use of the software for any military or arms production
- related purpose, whether direct or indirect, is strictly prohibited and
- will constitute a breach of the license granted under this Agreement.
-
- 5. Termination. A breach of any term or condition in this Agreement by a
- licensed user will entitle ONG SoftWare to terminate the license granted
- hereby. Upon notice of termination from ONG SoftWare, you agree that you
- will immediately cease the use of the software, remove it from your
- computer system and destroy any software disks or manuals acquired from
- ONG SoftWare.
-
- 6. Dual Media software. If the software package contains both 3.5" and
- 5.25" disks, then you may use only the disks appropriate for your
- single-user computer or licensed computer network. You may not use the
- other disks on another computer or computer network, or loan, rent or
- transfer them to another user.
