-
- Introduction
- ============
- Cyno's BlankIt! is a very simple screen saver; it blanks the screen.
- This simple screen saver is for OS/2 servers, power-users, and
- systems where resources (not to mention stability) are too precious
- to waste on fancy, yet useless, screen savers.
-
- New Features
- ------------
- Cyno's BlankIt! now works with OS/2 Warp 4 and its WarpCenter!
- In addition to the new features in version 2.0, inactivation
- corner has been added.
-
- Why do you need a screen saver?
- -------------------------------
- Screen savers prevent phosphor damage that occurs when computer
- monitors are displaying the same image, without changing the
- display. Damaged black and white monitors tend to show the
- inactive image burned into the screen. Distortion of color
- values may occur after periods of inactivity in color monitors.
-
- Why do you need a screen saver if you have a EnergyStar monitor?
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- EnergyStar monitors are excellent at reducing energy consumption.
- They turn off by themselves after a specific amount of time, doing
- exactly what a screen saver suppose to do. However, switching the
- monitors on and off constantly tends to wear out the monitors
- prematurely. Of course, monitors built to the EnergyStar specification
- generally have a longer life-span. But you can keep your monitors
- working even longer if you set the switch off time higher, and use a
- screen saver for short breaks.
-
-
- Configuration
- =============
- 'Activation Corner' allows you to choose a corner where the saver
- can be enabled manually. The default is lower left hand corner.
-
- 'Inactivation Corner' allows you to disable blanking temporarily.
- If 'Activation Corner' and 'Inactivation Corner' are the same,
- then 'Inactivation Corner' is disabled. This disabling function
- prevents accidental burn-ins to the monitor."
-
- If 'Minimize On Load' is checked, Cyno's BlankIt will load as an
- icon the next time it loads. The default is off.
-
- The 'Time to Wait' slider will allow you to set the period of
- inactivity before blanking the screen. If this value is set to
- zero, screen blanking can only occur manually. The default is
- 5 minutes.
-
- Usage
- =====
- Cyno's BlankIt! automatically blanks the screen after a period
- of inactivity. To enable screen saver manually, move mouse
- cursor to a corner you have chosen as the 'Activation Corner'.
-
- WarpCenter
- ----------
- If you use OS/2's WarpCenter and you enabled "Show only when mouse
- is over Center's position," in WarpCenter's Properties box, then
- you should not set Cyno's BlankIt! activation corners on either of
- the upper corner. Otherwise, the WarpCenter will stay on the screen
- after the screen saver is enabled.
