Q: How do I talk to my UUCP host?

A:  I suggest FX-UUCICO.  (Os/2 SLIP/PPP users:  see SMTP.FAQ)

Jorge Cwik is pleased to announce the new network home of FX Distribution.

The FX servers now reside on a T1 line, and so all of the slowness and
inconveniences of the former connection are gone.

1) New instructions for the fx-dist mail server.
   Send mail to [e-mail]
   In the body of the message, you must issue one or more commands.

   Valid commands are:  get {filename} and help. These commands must
      be in a "command envelope", eg between BEGIN and END statements.
      Example:

      begin
      get index
      get fxuci1.zip
      help
      end

      This is an example only --to show how to place your server commands
      inside the begin and end markers.

   The mail server has been updated with all new copies of FX and related
   software --Newsy, WafCnews, VMailserver and more.

2) FTP access.
   Open an ftp session to ftp.uufx.net

   Log in with the name anonymous or ftp. When prompted for a password,
      respond with your email address. eg:   [e-mail]
      change directory to pub/fx.

   Don't forget to set binary mode before transferring files.

3) WWW access.
   Set your URL to  http://www.uufx.net/fx

   The Home Page has been updated with many new features including:

   a) ftp access to FX and FX related files
   b) ftp access to Waffle and FX files
   c) ftp and home page access for Newsy (by Chris Winemiller)
   d) FX FAQ
   e) Wafle FAQ
   f) lots of background and configuration info for FX
   g) link to the Harrison "Waffle" Page
   h) NEW! FX users may register FX with Visa or MasterCard online!

FX Distribution (through Bob Kirkpatrick's Dog Ear'd Systems) is now able
to accept credit cards for registration payment.

Dog Ear'd Systems, the home of FX Distribution has moved. To all those
who were inconvenienced by our moving, I apologize. For those wanting
to register FX, please do NOT mail to the old address. Instead, email
me for information, see our home page at `www.uufx.net/fx' or pick up
an updated release copy of FX UUCICO 1.0 available from `ftp.uufx.net'
or via mailserver from `[e-mail].'

The FX public mail list is back up in operation; We invite all who
are interested in FX issues to join. To subscribe to the list, send
email to [e-mail] with the following in the message body:

subscribe fx-list
listname [your preferred email address here]

The listname field doesn't need to reflect your personal mailbox. If
you have the ability to create an alias to receive the mail, you may
give that email address instead. For instance:   [e-mail]
is perfectly fine, so long as the address properly accepts mail.

Please come check out the new server --it's MUCH nicer on a T1 than it
ever was on the old 28.8 :-) There's information valuable to all who
use FX standalone, with Waffle, Windows or OS/2.

We encourage all software authors whose products are FX compatible and
which may be distributed via mail service or ftp to send us a copy for
placement on the servers and a pointer in our pages. Neither FX, it's
author or his authorized agents are responsible for the claims of non-
FX software.
