  18.   Introduction:

  20.    A few months ago we released Version 1.00 of CapiTel. Since then a lot
  21.    of bugfixes and improvements have found their way into the new
  22.    release, Version 1.10. Thanks to all the users who sent us their bug
  23.    reports and feature ideas, do not stop with your feedback!

  38.   Installation:
  39.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  40.    The installation is easy. Just unzip the complete distribution archive
  41.    into the desired destination directory and run INSTALL.CMD.
  42.    This REXX script will create a CapiTel object on your Desktop.
  43.  
  44.    If you are going to create CapiTel objects on your own, do not
  45.    forget to set the "Working Directory" !
  46.  
  47.    The OS/2 Multimedia Package MMPM/2 is _required_ now, please install
  48.    it if you want to use CapiTel.
  49.  
  50.    CAPI 1.1 is unable to handle more than one applications that listen on
  51.    the same EAZ. Therefore: If you use CapiTel, make sure it listens to
  52.    the configured EAZ alone.

  55.   Configuration:
  56.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  57.    Go to the Properties-Notebook, which can be found in the General menu.
  58.    There you will find the following tabs:
  59.  
  60.    Defaults: - Generate 16-Bit .WAV Files
  61.                Mark the checkbox if your soundcard supports this.
  62.  
  63.              - Flashing-Window on new Calls
  64.                If a new incoming call is detected, CapiTel beeps and
  65.                the frame of its window begins to flash. Click anywhere
  66.                in the window to turn off the flashing. You can disable
  67.                this behaviour completely with this checkbox.
  68.  
  69.              - Confirm on Call-Deletion
  70.                Mark the checkbox if you want to be asked before
  71.                CapiTel deletes a call.
  72.  
  73.              - Ignore empty Calls
  74.                If you mark this checkbox, all calls with a recording
  75.                time of 0 seconds won't be recognized by CapiTel
  76.  
  77.              - Answer Delay
  78.                Specify the default delay (in seconds) before CapiTel
  79.                answers a call.
  80.  
  81.              - Max. Recording Time
  82.                Specify the default maximum recording time (in seconds).
  83.                CapiTel automatically hangs up if a caller speaks and
  84.                exceeds this limit!
  85.  
  86.              - Incoming EAZ Mask
  87.                Mark the checkboxes of the EAZ's you want to be serviced.
  88.                If you are using EuroISDN (DSS1), do not forget to map
  89.                your MSN's to EAZ's. See the manual of your ISDN card for
  90.                further information.

  92.              - ISDN Controller ID
  93.                If you have installed more than one ISDN cards, specify
  94.                the controller's ID. Usually you just use 0 as ID.
  95.  
  96.              - Filename or Pipename for Logging
  97.                CapiTel can log all calls in a log-file. Specify
  98.                a filename or a pipename (ie. \PIPE\ZOC), or nothing if
  99.                you don't want this feature.

  102.    Ports:    - Here you can configure the ports. Double-click on an
  103.                entry or access the context-menu with your right mouse
  104.                button. The names of the ports (EAZ0 to EAZ9) can't be
  105.                edited. Here is info about the other fields:
  106.  
  107.                  Description: A short description for the port
  108.  
  109.                  WAV/ALW File: A .WAV or .ALW file which is played whenever
  110.                    a call is detected on the port. You may use * as filename
  111.                    if the default file WELCOME.WAV should be used.
  112.  
  113.                  Reaction: CapiTel is able to reject a call. Here you
  114.                    define how it should behave: 'Normal' for
  115.                    normal behaviour, 'Busy' to simulate a busy
  116.                    line, 'Refuse' to refuse the call, and
  117.                    'Unavailable' to simulate an unavailable service.
  118.                    Important: The reaction you define here is only valid
  119.                    for the ISDN card. If another device (ie. an ISDN
  120.                    telephone) is also listening on the EAZ, the caller
  121.                    won't get CapiTel's reaction!  There is nothing we can
  122.                    do about this. That's the way ISDN works.

  124.                  Answer Delay: The answer delay (in seconds) for the port.
  125.                    You may use * if the default delay, which can be
  126.                    configured on the General-tab, should be used.

  132.    Callers:  - Here you can add, edit and delete persons. If someone calls
  133.                you and the incoming number matches one in this container,
  134.                the caller specific settings are used. Use the right mouse
  135.                button to access the context-menu. Here the info about
  136.                the fields:

  138.                  Name: The callers' names
  139.  
  140.                  Number: The callers' numbers which are used when
  141.                    identifying incoming calls. You may use the * wildcard
  142.                    at the end of a number (and only there).. ie. 024192090*
  143.                    matches ALL numbers that start with 024192090.
  144.  
  145.                  WAV/ALW File: A .WAV or .ALW file which is played whenever
  146.                    a call is detected for the caller. You may use * as
  147.                    filename if the default file (Port-specific, otherwise
  148.                    WELCOME.WAV) should be used.

  174.    If you specify something for a caller, it takes precedence over the
  175.    settings you might have defined for a Port.

  178.   Usage:
  179.   ~~~~~
  180.    The most important part of the CapiTel main window is the container. There
  181.    you will see all incoming calls. The fields are self explanatory. You may
  182.    throw colours and fonts into the main window, they will be remembered.
  183.  
  184.    If you are using CapiTel with hidden controls, you can access the various
  185.    menu functions with the popup menu you get when you click with your
  186.    right mouse button on the container. The window can be moved by dragging
  187.    the sizing border with the right mouse button pressed.
  188.  
  189.    Use the "Record" option to record a new welcome message by calling
  190.    yourself. A dialog will pop up asking you for a filename. WELCOME.ALW is
  191.    the default. You can use the created ALW files in the Port and
  192.    Callers tabs of the Properties-Notebook.

  194.    Of course you can create a .WAV file yourself (using MMPM's Audio
  195.    Recorder) and use it directly!
