-
- (c) 1996-1997 by Marc Meessen @ 2:2452/172
-
- Version 1.1h (07.01.1997)
-
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- McMail is Copyright (C) 1994-1996 by Albert Freriks & Gordian Schuermann
- ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
- MCMSETUP was originally designed by Klaus Winckler.
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- █ This version of MCMSETUP is ONLY for McMail V1.0 final. █
- █ Do *NOT* use it to setup any previous version of McMail! █
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
-
- ■ NO WARRANTY
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Use MCMSETUP at your own risk!! There's no warranty at all!!
- If you don't agree to these terms you must not use MCMSETUP!!
- By using MCMSETUP you agree to this settlement.
-
-
- ■ REGISTRATION
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- !!! MCMSETUP is Netmailware !!!
- If you want to use this program regulary, only write a Netmail to
- the author, containing that you use MCMSETUP, how you like the
- program (and perhaps a few nice words to the author for his time
- he spent programming) ;)
-
- If you want to help me continuing programming, you can send a
- little amount of money to the bank account listed below. You
- are not obliged to do so, but any amount of money can help me. ;)
-
-
- ■ INSTALLATION
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Put MCMSETUP in the directory where McMail is.
-
- It is recommended to put the configuration files delivered with
- McMail in this directory, too. It is not really necessary, since
- MCMSETUP is able to create new configuration files.
-
- At the moment MCMSETUP looks for the following environment variables:
-
- MCM - The path to the McMail configuration files.
-
- MCMSETUP - This variable has 3 possible parameters:
- NOREM : This will set the default to writing no
- comments in the main config file.
- MONO : This will set the display of the program to
- monochrome mode, so you can use the program
- on monochrome displays.
- SLICE : This will enable the timeslicing, so the
- program uses a lot fewer CPU-time in
- multitasking-environments, but so the
- program may slow down, so use it how you like it.
-
- MCMEDIT - Full path and filename for an external editor.
-
- TASK - Tasknumber
-
- Instead of environment variables you can also use configuration files.
- They have to be named MCMSETUP.<ext>, where <ext> is either 'CFG' or
- the Tasknumber, e.g. MCMSETUP.3 for Line 3.
-
- The files are pure ASCII-files, containing the following commands:
- MCMEDIT, MCM and MCMSETUP. These will be handled just like entries in
- the environment. The parameters have to be separated from the command
- by one (or more) Space(s).
-
- MCMSETUP first looks for environment variables, then looks for the
- MCMSETUP.CFG, then for the MCMSETUP.<line>. So if you define MCM
- as environment variable, and don't use the keyword MCM in any
- MCMSETUP.<ext> file, so the environment entry is used.
-
-
- ■ PARAMETERS
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- MCMSETUP can be called with the corresponding task number.
-
- MCMSETUP [tasknumber] </EVT> </ENH> <─┘
-
- If you call MCMSETUP without parameters MCMSETUP looks for the
- environment variable TASK, if defined. Otherwise MCMSETUP uses
- the default task #1.
-
- Remark: The environment variable TASK is without significance
- for McMail.
-
- You can change the task while running MCMSETUP. A changed configuration
- will first be written before a new configuration is read.
-
- Instead of tasknumber you can also specify a configuration file,
- e.g. F:\MCM\LINE1\MCMAIL.CFG. This File will be read as configuration.
- If you specify a file, task 0 is assumed.
-
- /EVT specifies to start directly on the Event manager.
- /ENH specifies to start directly on th Enhanced Nodedata.
- The parameters /ENH or /EVT must be the second parameter, so if you
- want to use them, you have to specify a task or configfile first.
-
-
- ■ TECHNICAL REFERENCE
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- MCMSETUP will NOT run on a Processor below 80286 !!
- MCMSETUP has a minimum memory requirement of 500 KB conventional
- memory and runs a little bit faster with a few MB of EMS
- installed.
-
- During an editing session, the original config files of McMail
- remain unchanged, and will only be erased if you confirm the
- changes to be written to disk.
-
- MCMSETUP and direct editing the ASCII-files can be used mixed, but
- MCMSETUP erases all of your personal comments in the configuration
- files!!!
-
- MCMSETUP can handle up to 256 AKAs, 40 Domains, 10 ExternalMail
- Strings, 50 Dial-Translations, 50 Flag-Translations, up to 100
- Nodedata-entries, 40 entries in the eventconfig, 500 Request-
- entries, 120 entries in the Enhanced Nodedata file, 100 entries
- in the Phonebook, 300 entries in the Nodelist-Configuration and
- 250 entries in the RouteInfo.
- Most of the internal used strings are 70 chars long, but there
- are some which are longer and some are shorter, so if you
- have entrys exceeding the limit, please check them, if they
- are complete before saving your setup with this program.
- It can Handle 5 Include-Files, but it will NOT read them, so
- entrys in these files cannot be changed.
-
-
- ■ HANDLING
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Pressing Ctrl-F1 (or Alt-F1 or Shift-F1) on top of a menu will
- call an internal Filelister, displaying the corresponding
- entry in the MCMAIL.DOC, which is included in the original
- MCMAIL archive.
- At very few topics you can press F1 to get a small help-text.
-
- It is wise to keep the example configuration files or make a
- carbon copy of them, before using MCMSETUP the first time.
-
- BTW: I recommend reading the documentation of McMail.
