  34. Installing Telemate for Windows
  35. ===============================

  37. The following steps show how to install Telemate for Windows.
  38.  
  39.  1) If Telemate for Windows come as a ZIP file, apply PKUNZIP.EXE to
  40.     unzip TMW110.ZIP into any empty temporary directory on your hard
  41.     drive. Otherwise, skip to step 2.
  42.  2) From Windows File Manager, run the SETUP.EXE from this directory.
  43.  3) The Setup program will prompt the directory Telemate to be
  44.     installed to. You can change the directory if you want to.
  45.  4) After the Setup program is done, the Quick Configuration will guide
  46.     you through a few steps to setup some basic options.
  47.  5) You may remove the files in the temporary directory as they are no
  48.     longer need.

  50. Now you are ready to run Telemate for Windows.

  53. Upgrading from 1.00 to 1.10
  54. ===========================
  55.  
  56. Upgrading from 1.00 is simple, simply follow the installation procedure
  57. above and run SETUP.EXE. The Setup program will detect the older version
  58. and perform the upgrade procedure. Your configuration file, dialing
  59. directory and other data file will be preserved.

  62. What's new in Telemate
  63. ======================

  65. Terminal
  66. . This version provides a faster and smoother scrolling.
  67. . Telemate will use a blue background in ANSI terminal emulation if you
  68.   turn on the Override Color option in the Terminal Properties Dialog.
  69. . Bold font and better font matching are supported.
  70. . Blinking character and underline attribute are supported.
  71. . Macro Bar Dialog added the Clear, Up and Down buttons.

  73. Dialing Directory
  74. . The beloved Insert keyboard shortcut is back. When Insert key is
  75.   pressed, Telemate will insert the current entry to the dialing queue
  76.   and start dialing. Pressing the Insert key while dialing will add the
  77.   next entry to the dialing queue.
  78. . The Quick Dial drop down is available in both Terminal Toolbar and the
  79.   Dialing Directory Toolbar.
  80. . You can now find and replace text by column.
  81. . When the dial entry is connected, Telemate will guess the connection
  82.   throughput and use it to calculate the CPS rate during a file
  83.   transfer.
  84. . You can add and remove buttons from the Dial Directory Button Bar.
  85. . You can now import the phone directory from Telemate for DOS from the
  86.   Edit menu in the Dialing directory.
  87. . You can now sort the dialing directory.

  99. . When you use the File... button to add files to the File Tag List,
  100.   Telemate will store the directory and use it when you click the Send
  101.   button to send the file. This allows you to select files that is not
  102.   in the upload directory.

  105. . You can now compile a script without running it.
  106. . The Run Script macro symbol ^\ is supported.

  108. Others
  109. . When running in Windows 95, the toolbars and button bars adopt the
  110.   native look and feel.
  111. . Telemate keeps a usage log on the activities in a Telemate session.
  112. . You can specify command line parameters to create Windows 95 shortcut,
  113.   override the default dialing directory and dial a specific dial entry,
  114.   run a script or open text files and GIF images at start up.
