  1. NotifyMe    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  2.  
  3. In order for NotifyMe to work properly under Windows 3.x
  4. you must install 3D control support, contained in the file
  5. CTL3DV2.DLL.  CTL3DV2.DLL is used to create 3D effects on
  6. windows programs.  In most cases you will find that this DLL
  7. is already installed on your system, because many applications
  8. use it.  CLT3DV2.DLL installation is addressed below.

  11. To install NotifyMe on your Local or LAN drive:
  12.  1) Create a NotifyMe directory on your Local or one of your LAN drives.
  13.  
  14.  2) Place all of the files contained in the NotifyMe.ZIP file in the
  15.     newly created NotifyMe directory from step 1).
  16.  
  17.  3) Your done with the install.

  20. To Place NotifyMe on a user's desktop:
  21.  1) Open File Manager.
  22.  
  23.  2) If you are running Windows 95, skip to step 4).
  24.  
  25.  3) If you are running Windows 3.x, in File Manager check the date
  26.     and time on the file CTL3DV2.DLX which came with NotifyMe.
  27.     Then check your \WINDOWS and \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories for
  28.     the file CTL3DV2.DLL (note the difference in extesion).  Compare
  29.     the ages of the two files and take one of the following steps:
  30.          
  31.      a) If CTL3DV2 exists in \WINDOWS or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM, and the
  32.         copy there is NEWER than the file which came with NotifyMe,
  33.         skip to step 4).  
  34.  
  35.      b) If CTL3DV2 does not exist in \WINDOWS or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM,
  36.         or the copy there is OLDER than the file which came with
  37.         NotifyMe, delete any existing CTL3DV2.DLL file from \WINDOWS
  38.         or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM, copy the CTL3DV2.DLX file from the
  39.         NotifyMe directory to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, and
  40.         rename it to CTL3DV2.DLL.
  41.              
  42.  4) In File Manager Drag the NotifyMe.EXE file from the NotifyMe directory
  43.     to one of the user's Program Manager Groups.
  44.  
  45.  5) Double click on the newly created NotifyMe icon in Program Mananger.
  46.  
  47.  6) You should now be running NotifyMe.
