- █ This version of MCMSETUP is ONLY for McMail V1.0g5. █
- █ Do *NOT* use it to setup any previous version of McMail! █
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-

- ■ NO WARRANTY
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Use MCMSETUP at your own risk!! There's no warranty at all!!
- If you don't agree to this terms you must not use MCMSETUP!!
- By using MCMSETUP you agree to this settlement.
-
-
- ■ REGISTRATION
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- MCMSETUP is not crippled !!! MCMSETUP is Netmailware !!!
- If you want to use this program regulary, only write a Netmail to
- the author, containing that you use MCMSETUP, how you like the
- program (and perhaps a few nice words to the author for his time
- he spent programming) ;)
-
- During the gamma-phase of McMail MCMSETUP stays Netmailware.
- After the first full release of McMail MCMSETUP will most likely
- become Shareware - but with a very low price... ;))
-
- If you register, your name will be shown in the background, and
- registration authorizes full using this and all following
- Versions of MCMSETUP as far as V1.99.
-
- If you insinst of sending me money, send it to the bank account
- listed below. But don't forget your name and nodenumber, so I
- can thank you personally. ;)
-
-
- ■ INSTALLATION
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Put MCMSETUP in the directory where McMail is.
-
- It is recommended to put the configuration files delivered with
- McMail in this directory, too. It is not really necessary, since
- MCMSETUP is able to create new configuration files.
-
- At the moment MCMSETUP looks for the following environment variables:
-
- MCM - The path to the McMail configuration files.
-
- MCMSETUP - If specified, the only paramer at the moment is NOREM,
- so use it like this: SET MCMSETUP=NOREM.
- This will set the default to writing no comments in
- the main config file.
-
- MCMEDIT - Full path and filename for an external editor.
-
- TASK - Tasknumber
-
- Instead of environment variables you can also use configuration files.
- They have to be named MCMSETUP.<ext>, where <ext> is either 'CFG' or
- the Tasknumber, e.g. MCMSETUP.3 for Line 3.
-
- The files are pure ASCII-files, containing the following commands:
- MCMEDIT, MCM and MCMSETUP. This will be handled just as entrys in
- the environment. The parameter has to be separated from the command
- by one (or more) Space(s).
-
- MCMSETUP first looks for environment variables, then looks for the
- MCMSETUP.CFG, then for the MCMSETUP.<line>. So if you define MCM
- as environment variable, and don't use the keyword MCM in any
- MCMSETUP.<ext> file, so the environment entry is used.
-
- [The cofiguration files feature is new, so if you have problems,
- please report them to me, so I can fix them... ;) ]
-
-
- ■ PARAMETERS
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- MCMSETUP can be called with the corresponding task number.
-
- MCMSETUP <tasknumber> <─┘
-
- If you call MCMSETUP without parameters MCMSETUP looks for the
- environment variable TASK, if defined. Otherwise MCMSETUP uses
- the default task #1.
-
- Remark: The environment variable TASK is without significance
- for McMail.
-
- You can change the task while running MCMSETUP. A changed configuration
- will first be written before a new configuration is read.
-
- Instead of tasknumber you can also specify a configuration file,
- e.g. F:\MCM\LINE1\MCMAIL.CFG. This File will be read as configuration.
- If you specify a file, task 0 is assumed.
-
-
- ■ TECHNICAL REFERENCE
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- MCMSETUP will NOT run on a Processor below 80286 !!
-
- During an editing session, the original config files of McMail
- remain unchanged, and will only be erased if you confirm the
- changes to be written to disk.
-
- MCMSETUP and direct editing the ASCII-files can be used mixed, but
- MCMSETUP erases all of your personal comments in the configuration
- files!!!
-
- MCMSETUP can't handle fixed dates and day of the week together,
- so using Mon+Tue+Fri+2412 is impossible with the program.
-
- MCMSETUP can handle up to 256 AKAs, 40 Domains, 10 ExternalMail
- Strings, 50 Dial-Translations, 50 Flag-Translations, up to 100
- Nodedata-entrys, 40 entrys in the eventconfig, 500 Request-
- entrys, 60 entrys in the Enhanced Nodedata file and 100 Entrys
- in the Phonebook.
- Most of the internal used strings are 70 chars long, so if you
- have entrys exceeding this limit, please check them, if they
- are complete before saving your setup with this program.
- It can Handle 5 Include-Files, but it will NOT read them, so
- entrys in these files cannot be changed.
-
-
- ■ HANDLING
- ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- There is not yet any help text availiable, with very few exceptions.
-
- It is wise to keep the example configuration files or make a
- carbon copy of them, before using MCMSETUP the first time.
-
- BTW: I recommend reading the documentation of McMail.
