Game Setup
The Game Setup command allows you to configure the options that are related to the game settings in Mines of Gorr.
The "Path for semaphores:" option is used to tell Mines of Gorr where to create semaphore files. Semaphores are what are used to allow this game to be a multi-node game. They are 0 byte files with the extension of .SEM. This option will also be used to tell the game where to store players 'state' files. The state file is used in the online combat. This option was provided for those who use RAM disks in their BBS configuration. By allowing the semaphore and state files to be created on a RAM disk, the game will be much faster. Each player will generally only have 2 files at a time, the state file which is approx. 128 bytes and possibly a semaphore file which is always 0 bytes. The state file stays in existence until the player exits the game. Semaphores are created and deleted as the player is in the game. A player would rarely have more than 1 semaphore file in use at a time. If you use a RAM disk, base your estimates on the file sizes mentioned (10 players would need 20 files with a max size of 1.3K of disk space). One final note. The SEMPATH path MUST BE ACCESSIBLE BY ALL NODES OF THE BBS THAT WILL BE USING THE GAME!!!! The default is the directory where Mines of Gorr is installed (blank). The field in GORR.CFG that this option maintains is GORR
SEMPATH.
The "Internode Combat" check box option is used to set internode combat on or off for Mines of Gorr. This option should be turned off (unchecked) for two reasons.
The first reason is if you are running a single line BBS. Since you can't have internode combat on a single line BBS, why have the game doing extra work to look for internode combat events? This will also make the game run faster.
The second reason is if the game is really slow with internode combat turned on. This could be the situation if you are running a slower PC under DESQview (or other multi-tasker) or you have a slow network topology. Mines of Gorr generates a lot of file i/o when checking for internode combat. This high volume of file i/o may not be desirable on a BBS where it can affect BBS performance. The default for this option is checked (on). K
The field in GORR.CFG that this option maintains is GORR
INTERNODECOMBAT.

The Players command allows you to edit the records of the players for Mines of Gorr.
The "Name:" field is contains the name of the BBS user. This field will always be converted to upper case. It must match perfectly with the name that the player uses to access the BBS. This is the key field that Mines of Gorr uses to match a user to a player record.
The "Alias:" field is the name that a player uses in Mines of Gorr. This is the name that will show up in the rankings, etc. The editor will not allow you to enter a alias that is already in use.
The "Deleted" option tells whether or not a player has been deleted by the game. When this option is not checked, the player is active. L
The "Poisoned" option tells whether or not a player is currently poisoned. g

Items
This dialog allows you to edit the attributes of an object/item. First of all there are two informational fields; Object Name and Object Type. These fields are self explanatory. w
Next there are two check boxes for whether the object is equipped or not and whether the object is identified or not. 7
Next there is another informational field called Total HP. This is the total hit points that the object has. It is currently always 100. The next field is the Current HP. This tells how many hit points the object has left and determines the state of the object. Note: this value can't exceed 100, either.
Next are two fields that deal with how fast an object can break. The Break Probability is the percent chance in an attack that the object will lose some hit points. The Break Rate is the maximum number of hit points the object can lose if the dice determines that it should lose some hit points. You'll note that the more powerful objects/items break slower. You can make an item unbreakable by setting the Break Probability to 0.
The last field is AV or WV. This field depends on the object type. If the Object Type is a Weapon, then this field refers to WV. Otherwise it refers to AV. WV is limited to approx. 65,000 (although this weapon would be pretty unfair). AV is limited to 100. AV is an absorption percent. Each defensive object has an AV that may total over 100. To totally absorb all the hit points of damage from an attack set an object AV to 100. a
The Drop button allows you to drop an item from a character. You must do this to load an item.
