  1.              Installing HTML Notepad V2.0 for Windows 95

  3. If you are using Windows 3.1 and are reading this you have the wrong version.
  4. Please go and search for htmln231.zip it will definitely be at;

  7. HTML Notepad does not have an install program as this would be larger than 
  8. the main code.  It is relatively simplistic and does not write files all over 
  9. your hard disk.  It also does not affect Windows in any way ( by adding info
  10. to the system registry for example).  Below are some steps to installing 
  11. HTMLn2, making it a Send To.. option in Explorer and removing it.
  12.  
  13. (For downloaded version)
  14. 1.  Use pkunzip -d to unzip all the files in the directory you would like them
  15.        installed ( the -d is necessary as there are some directories which 
  16.        need to be created.)  WinZip can also do this.

  18. (For floppy disk version)
  19. 1.  Copy all files from the disk into a directory (apart from /software).
  20.  
  21. 2.  From Windows 95 go to the Start toolbar and right click on the toolbar 
  22.        itself.   Select the properties section of the Window and then the 
  23.        Start Menu Programs tabbed control.   After this click add and you 
  24.        will be given a Program Wizard which will allow to you browse for the 
  25.        executable place it in the folder of your choice and select a name.

  27. 3.  You can also make HTMLn2 a shortcut on the Window by right clicking on 
  28.        the background and selecting New|Shortcut then follow the instructions
  29.        as in 2.

  31. 3.  *READ* the initial window this only comes up when you run HTML Notepad 
  32.        the first time and includes time limit information.

  36. If you would like to run HTML Notepad when you right click on a HTML file.
  37.  
  38. 1.  Start Explorer.  Find the directory underneath windows called SendTo.
  39.        (c:\windows\SendTo on most systems)
  40.  
  41. 2.  Right click on the file section of Explorer and select New|Shortcut and 
  42.        then browse for the HTML file executable.

  44. 3.  Test your setup by right clicking on a HTML file and selecting the 
  45.        SendTo|HtmlNote option.  Nice, huh.

  50. Removing HTML.  This will of course never happen but just in case.

  52. 1.  Just delete all the files in the directory and also delete any folder or
  53.         shortcuts made.  You cannot affect Windows by deleting htmln2.
