  26. PROGRAM INFORMATION
  27. -------------------
  28. Glass Bead Challenge is an ORIGINAL game of strategy for one
  29. or two players.  Dominate your opponent without capturing any
  30. pieces!  Multiple computer levels, several board sizes, 16
  31. and 256-color graphics with digitized sound and music.  FUN!
  32.  
  33. GETTING STARTED
  34. ---------------
  35. To install, follow these directions:
  36.  
  37. 1.  Copy the program files to your hard drive, or you
  38.     can install the program from your floppy drive.
  39.  
  40. 2.  Make sure that the file VBRUN300.DLL is either:
  41.       A. In the same place as the program files, -or-
  42.       B. In your Windows SYSTEM directory, where it can be shared
  43.      with any other Visual Basic Application.
  44.  
  45. 3.  From Windows, run the program BEAD.EXE (from Program 
  46.     Manager select the "Run..." option from the File menu)
  47.  
  48. 4. If you want, you can easily create an icon in Program Manager
  49.    by selecting the "New" option from the file menu.  The file
  50.    you want to add is "BEAD.EXE"; it is fairly easy to browse
  51.    for it in the New Program dialog.
  52.  
  53. TIPS
  54. ----
  55. If you are in 256 color more or true color:
  56.     Go to the "Options" menu and select one
  57.     of the custom piece sets -- they look
  58.     cooler than the 16-color standard.
  59.  
  60. If you get a blank board after a "New Game":
  61.     You are probably in a weird video mode.
  62.     Go to your system setup or your video
  63.     card setup and switch to a video mode
  64.     with 16 or 256 colors or true color
  65.     (16million).  Hi-color (65,000 colors)
  66.     and other color modes are incompatible.
  67.  
  68. If you beat the computer too much:
  69.     Let it go first the next game using the
  70.     "Switch Colors" button on the "New Game"
  71.     dialog.  For an extra challenge, put
  72.     a handicap in your favor on the "New Game"
  73.     dialog.
  74.  
  75. If the computer beats you too much:
  76.     Read the "Strategy" section in the help
  77.     file and make sure you move first on
  78.     every game until you get the hang of it.
