- NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION:
- NetWare Client for DOS/MS Windows
-
- ABSTRACT:
-
- This directory contains a utility to help troubleshoot installation and
- configuration of NetWare Client Modules for Windows (EXEs, DRVs, *.386
- and DLLs). This tool was developed by Novell Technical Support (NTS)
- as a way to provide information on Windows drivers and has limited
- support.
-
- New to this released version (v1.04) is the NetWare Modules
- Button. It allows you to see only the modules specific for Novell
- Windows Client. In addition, a fix was made in this update for
- applications using the WIN32 API set would cause a General Protection
- Fault in v1.02 when requesting information from those WIN32 programs.

- This program requires TOOLHELP.DLL. This DLL ships with Windows 3.1x and
- Windows for Workgroups 3.11. Windows 3.0 users should obtain this DLL
- from Microsoft Download Service or from a copy of Windows 3.1x.
-
- Solution Specifics:
-
- The following is an example issue that this program helped resolve.
-
- Broadcast messages were not being displayed in Windows. A user had
- installed the latest files from WINDR1.EXE. Using this tool, the user
- was able to determine that an older version of NWPOPUP was being loaded in
- memory.
-
- The user had installed the WINDR1.EXE files correctly but an older version
- of NWPOPUP.EXE was left in the Windows directory. The user had copied
- NWPOPUP.EXE to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. When the user deleted the
- file from the WINDOWS directory, the correct version of
- NWPOPUP was loaded from the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the problem
- was resolved.
