Welcome to GO!, the task control program for Pocket PC.
Please install GO! in its default directory, and then launch it from the Start Menu. GO! will create an icon in the very top left of the display, which should be visible no matter what other applications you start.
Note: if you are using another program which uses the taskbar at the top of the screen, GO! may not work as expected. Please other programs before running GO!.
The GO! icon changes color to reflect the amount of main memory (not storage or expansion card memory) currently in use on your Pocket PC.
Green = up to 50%
Yellow = from 50% to 80%
Red = above 80%
GO! can be used in three ways:
1. Tap the GO! icon
Tap the icon once, and a menu will appear. From this menu, you can quickly see which programs are running in memory, and by tapping one, quickly return to it. This is useful if you are using File Explorer for example, and then start another program. Instead of re-starting File Explorer and having to tap on the various folders to regain the last location, jumping directly with GO! will return you to exactly to where you left it.
The GO.. menu option allows you to quickly launch the most common applications on your Pocket PC. No need to hunt through menus and folders. The list of programs cannot be customized in this free version of GO!.
The other options will allow to quickly stop the current task (unless it is the Today screen, or a few other important windows), or stop all other tasks. The quit option will terminate GO!.
The Settings window is important. Not only will it give you an exact display of how much memory is in use, but it allows you to configure the second way of launching GO!: using tap-and-hold.
2. Tap-and-Hold
Instead of quickly tapping the GO! icon, tap and hold the stylus for approximately have a second without releasing. By default this action will return you to the Today screen.
However, if you have configured GO! from the Settings window, you can also use the tap-and-hold motion to stop the current application, or flip between currently running programs. Choose the setting which suits your way of working best.
3. Launched with hardware button
This is a very easy and powerful way of launching GO!. From the Start/Settings/Buttons window, configure one of the Pocket PC's launch buttons to GO!. Now, when you press than button, GO! will cycle though all the currently open applications. This is a very useful way to switch back and forward between programs. In this free version of GO! it is not possible to assign kill to the button.
