- <h1><a name="Introduction"><font color="#0000FF">Introduction</font></a></h1>
- <p><strong>Web Style</strong> is the easiest web styling program available! Now you can create and apply
- different user-defined styles for your web site in a matter of minutes. If you decide to change
- the style for your site, simply change the style settings and re-apply it across the web site.
- This will ensure that all your pages will have the same look and feel. You can also do global
- searches and replaces and well as convert existing text files into HTML pages. Web Style is
- ideal for web administrators and web authors who need to quickly make changes across
- hundreds of web pages. </p>
- <p> </p>
- <hr>
- <h1><a name="Features"><font color="#0000FF">Features</font></a></h1>
- <h2>With Web Style, you can easily: </h2>
- <ul>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Create and manage multiple styles</font> </h3>
- <p>In Web Style, a style is defined as a group of attributes that can be applied to multiple
- web pages. A style consist of header information, footer information, background
- color and image, text colors, and link colors. Once a style is defined, it can be applied
- and managed. Web pages can also have multiple styles applied to them, and each
- style can be removed without affecting other defined styles. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Apply multiple headers and footers </font></h3>
- <p>Web pages can have a style defined to include multiple headers and footers. This is
- especially useful when you need to define headers and subheaders as well as footers
- and subfooters. For instance, a header may be your logo for the site and a subheader
- may consist of a navagation bar for a particular subsection of your web site. A footer
- can be your copyright information while a subfooter can contain points of interests and
- other links. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Apply background color, images, text and link colors </font></h3>
- <p>Sometimes when you have a document converted or imported from other authors, you
- may want to maintain a consistent look and feel of the site, such as background color,
- images, and links. By setting up a style with a standard look and feel, this can be
- applied across the site. If you want to maintain any pre-defined background, text, and
- link settings and not overwrite them, that can be accomplished also. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Perform global search and replace</font> </h3>
- <p>This is a very common feature used to search for particular matches and peform and
- optional replace. This can be done for the whole site or selective pages from your site. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Convert text to HTML pages </font></h3>
- <p>If you have plain text files that you wish to convert into an HTML format, simply select
- those text files and apply the conversion to them. Then you can apply the style of your
- choice to give a consistent look and feel. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Preview before and after conversions</font> </h3>
- <p>Rather than converting all your web pages to a selected style, you can preview the
- changes on a page before committing the changes. A preview panel displays how the
- HTML document would look like and also how the page appears in your browser of
- choice. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Use on existing web pages</font> </h3>
- <p>Unlike other sophisticated web designing tools, which sometimes requires you to
- convert your existing pages into a proprietary format, Web Style uses your existing
- web pages without any special importing or conversion steps. This ensures that you
- can immediately start using Web Style and not worry about fixing up your web pages
- in a proprietary format. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Automatic color selection</font> </h3>
- <p>Even if you do not use Web Style for applying styles, you can still use it to find the
- equivalent hexidecimal code for a selected color from a color dialog box. No need to
- memorize or lookup color codes. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Create styles from existing pages</font> </h3>
- <p>If you already have a style that you use in your site, you can save your existing style as
- an HTML document and apply it automatically to new web pages. This saves you
- time in designing new styles manually. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Remove styles from selected pages </font></h3>
- <p>If you decide to remove a style, or portions of a style, simply select the style for
- removal and the options to remove in that style, and apply across it to all the selected
- pages in your web site. </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Restore and backup selected pages</font> </h3>
- <p>After a committed conversion takes place, say across 100 web pages, you decided
- that the style is not as what you expected. You can easily restore the previous
- conversion with just a click of the Restore button. No need to worry about manually
- going in to undo the changes. (Just make sure you create a backup first). </p>
- </li>
- <li><h3><font color="#FF0000">Save multiple Web Style configurations</font> </h3>
- <p>If you happen to be a webmaster or web administrator with hundreds of users,
- customers, or departments to support, you can save a Web Style Configuration for
- each picky individual or group. Each configuration contains the web site search path,
- default browser and backup areas, and up to ten different styles. </p>
- </li>
- </ul>

- <h1><a name="Frequently Asked Questions"><font color="#0000FF">Frequently Asked Questions</font></a></h1>
- <p>Web Style is designed to be a powerful utility to complement HTML editors and site
- management tools. Here are some common questions asked about Web Style:</p>
- <p><strong>What can I use Web Style for?</strong></p>
- <p>You can use Web Style to apply common headers, footers, background colors, images, text
- colors and link colors to the pages selected in your web site. You can also use Web Style to
- search and replace any text globally in your web site. There is also a text to HTML converter
- if you want to convert plain text files into HTML pages.</p>
- <p>Some typical uses include, managing company-wide web sites that require a standard look
- and feel, corporate Intranets where each style can represent a department look and feel,
- making quick changes that appear in multiple pages such as copyright information, logos,
- navigation bars, and address information, and converting hundreds of existing text files into
- HTML format and applying a pre-defined standard look and feel style to them. </p>
- <p><strong>Who is this tool designed for?</strong></p>
- <p>Web Style is designed mainly for web authors, web administrators, and content providers
- who have a lot of web pages to maintain where it is not feasible to manually make changes
- across a web site. It is also designed to work with existing web pages as opposed to using
- proprietary formats, and not limit authors to what they can or cannot put in their web pages.</p>
- <p><strong>Is Web Style limited to a specific level of HTML?</strong></p>
- <p>No. Web Style is designed not to conform to any level of HTML, browser, or programming
- languages such as Javascript or Java. It can be used to apply styles to any level of HTML as
- long as the author creates styles that adhere to the HTML level of choice.</p>
- <p><strong>Will Web Style interfere with my web authoring tools?</strong></p>
- <p>No. Tags created by Web Style are all commented out based on HTML standards. It is
- specifically designed to be interpreted by Web Style. There may be a remote possibility that
- your authoring tool might parse commented fields but the syntax created by Web Style is not
- designed for use by any other authoring tools.</p>
- <p><strong>How long does it take to convert my web pages?</strong></p>
- <p>Depending on the size of each web page, and the number of web pages to convert, and your
- computer power, it takes from seconds to 2-3 minutes to convert 100 files of 15k bytes
- each. This is considerably less time than it would take to manually convert these files or
- spending the time importing existing pages into a propriertary software package.</p>
- <p><strong>I have converted over 100 files and it is not what I expected. What should I do now?</strong></p>
- <p>First of all, always make a backup of your work before you start. Additionally, Web Style
- offers a backup feature that allows you to backup all the selected files for conversion prior to
- the actual conversion. Once you completed the conversion, check the results with your
- default browser immediately to ensure that the changes are correct. If not, simply hit the
- restore button to revert the changes.</p>
- <p>If you haven't made a backup or selected the backup option prior to the conversion, you're
- not totally out of luck. Depending on what you applied, you can still use the Search and
- Replace option to remove or change the styles you just applied. Just define the settings in the
- Search and Replace details area. Remember to make a backup this time!</p>
- <p><strong>What is the difference between Web Style and Cascaded Style Sheets and other
- styling standards?</strong></p>
- <p>Technically in Web Style, a style is defined as a collection of attributes grouped together and
- applied across selected pages in a web site. These attributes include header files, footer files,
- and background image, colors, text and link color attributes. CSS and other styling standards
- are designed to be interpreted specifically by their intended web browsers. They are also
- more related to content layout and font settings which, again, are only intended for certain
- web browsers to interpret correctly. Web Style settings are not mutually exclusive with other
- styling standards. In other words, they can be used together.</p>
- <p><strong>Do you have any plans for a Professional Edition?</strong></p>
- <p>It depends on the responses that I receive. Some of the professional features may include
- adding automated navigation toolbars for pages such as next, previous, and table of contents
- buttons. There may be more styling attributes. Another feature may include creating various
- style-like directory listings based on selected file listings. This is meant for servers that show
- plain directory trees when users browse a certain directory listing via a web browser. There
- may also be more detailed settings for text to HTML conversions.</p>
- <p><strong>Why is there not a WYSIWYG previewer?</strong></p>
- <p>Since Web Style is designed not to conform to any level of HTML, and the fact that not all
- styles are necessarily HTML coding (it is up to the web author to determine what content is
- in his style settings), a WYSIWYG previewer may not always function as expected. A web
- author may be designing web pages for a specific browser or HTML level which can be set
- as the default browser to preview those pages. This ensures that the actual result of the
- conversions will appear as they expected.</p>
- <p><strong>Is there a limit to the number of styles or files I can convert?</strong></p>
- <p>You can define up to 10 different styles per Web Style Configuration and allow up to 300
- selected files at a time for the registered version.</p>
- <p><strong>How much does Web Style cost?</strong></p>
- <p>Only $29 (USD) for each copy. There are also Corporate discounts available. See the
- <a href="#Registration Information">Registration</a> section for more details.</p>
- <p><strong>Where can I find the latest release of Web Style?</strong></p>
- <p>Check the <a href="#Contact">Contact</a> section to find out more information.</p>
