- BORLAND ROLLS OUT DELPHI CLIENT/SERVER BUNDLE
- FOR CORPORATE DEVELOPERS
- New Package Features Maintenance and Support Solutions for
- Corporate Customers
-
- SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., -- April 24, 1995 -- In response to
- growing demand from corporate developers, Borland International,
- Inc. is providing a special Delphi Client/Server Bundle offer
- featuring its award-winning rapid application development tool.
- This package includes five Delphi Client/Server units,
- maintenance contracts for one year and a choice of customized
- technical support options.
- "This bundle addresses unique corporate needs by combining
- Delphi's great product features, unmatched performance and
- comprehensive technical support to ensure our customers' success
- in developing high-performance Windows applications," said David
- Watkins, vice president, Marketing and Support, Borland
- International. "Our commitment to the latest-version technology
- is guaranteed in our maintenance contracts."
- "In addition to five Delphi Client/Server packages, the
- bundle offers one-year maintenance contracts. These contracts
- include a 32-bit release for Windows 95. This release will be
- fully compatible with the current version so that applications
- can easily be recompiled for Windows 95; the release is scheduled
- to ship shortly after the commercial release of Windows 95. The
- Delphi Client/Server Bundle provides two unique support options:
- an unlimited number of technical support calls for two designated
- corporate contacts for one year, or a 45-hour block of technical
- support time to be utilized by an unlimited number of corporate
- contacts.
- "When evaluating client/server development tools, I
- recommend Delphi Client/Server because it has SQL links, native
- drivers, and team development support, which my Fortune 1000
- customers need," said Lance Bullock, vice-president of technology
- of 4GL, a Northern California consulting firm.
- Since the Delphi Client/Server Bundle was introduced, over
- 30 corporate sites have adopted it, including AT&T, First
- Alliance Mortgage Company, Jeffries & Company, Inc. and Choice
- Hotels.
- "We love it," said Phil Herzfeld, software development
- manager at First Alliance Mortgage Company. "Since purchasing
- Delphi Client/Server, we have created nine new applications in
- the last six weeks. Our experience has been really positive;

- Delphi's performance is outstanding, and our development
- turnaround time is about a third of what it would have been using
- first-generation client/server tools."
- "We're very happy with Delphi; we've found it much more
- user-intuitive than PowerBuilder and its high performance is
- unsurpassed. I'm particularly happy with the native code
- compiler...Delphi Client/Server is vastly superior to Visual
- Basic," said Dave Cossert, senior programmer/analyst for emerging
- technologies at AT&T's Berkley Heights, New Jersey office.
- "Delphi's development environment has an inheritance feature
- that makes it faster than any other development environment on
- the market, "said Joseph Hu, program designer, Jeffries &
- Company, Inc. "We are more productive than ever before."
- Michael Scotece, senior systems analyst at Choice Hotels MIS
- headquarters, said that "compared with PowerBuilder and SQL
- Windows, Delphi is truly the easiest and most efficient product
- offered for client/server development. It has the most intuitive
- object component model available, and that strength makes it
- possible to re-use code readily."
- Resellers are expecting that the Delphi Client/Server Bundle
- will accelerate already strong Delphi sales. Leigh L'Hereux,
- associate buyer, Egghead Software, said that "Delphi has been
- very successful to date. The combination of Delphi's ease of use
- and fast performance are making Delphi a market leader, and I
- expect the sales of the Client/Server bundle to be a success."
- Delphi and Delphi Client/Server, a high-performance, rapid
- application Windows development tool with full client/server and
- local database support, are receiving widespread industry
- endorsements. More than 30 books, five magazines and
- newsletters, multiple training companies and numerous user groups
- are committed to supporting the products. At least 1000 VARs and
- ISVs have received intensive technical training on Delphi and
- Delphi Client/Server, and the growing list of third-party tools
- and libraries include those by Intersolv, LBMS, Novell,
- Asymetrix, Mortice Kern Systems, TurboPower, and more.
-
