- GNOME uses a new and powerful mechanism to store data about how to
- run the applications on your machine called desktop entries. To convert
- the wmconfig entries used by the standard RH 5.2 desktop environment,
- use the wmconfig2desktop.pl Perl script in this directory.
-
- You must run the script as root. Its usage is very simple:
-
- cd /mnt/cdrom/gnome <or wherever your CDROM is mounted>
- ./wmconfig2desktop.pl
-
- The script will convert the wmconfig entries on your system to the
- appropriate desktop entries. The new entries should immediately be
- available via the GNOME panel by pressing the 'foot' menu button.
