  2.         This is the May 1990 edition of the Quaid Analyzer.  It contains
  3.         a number of improvements not in the manual.
  4.  
  5.         The Instruction display now shows the instructions for the 80386
  6.         processor.  Also, when running on an  80386, the full 32 bits of
  7.         the  registers  appear on  the  register  display.  If  you  are
  8.         running  the exercise  on  page 21  of the  manual  on an  80386
  9.         system, you have  to push the cursor  up key one more  time than
  10.         shown in the manual each time you go to the sp register.

  12.         The  CMOS  Display  has  been   replaced  by  a  screen  labeled
  13.         Configuration, invoked by  selecting the Config function  at the
  14.         menu.  At the Configuration display, you can change the contents
  15.         of your CMOS.  The help function, reached with the F1 key, tells
  16.         you the  keystrokes to change the  CMOS.  When you  have pressed
  17.         Ins  to start  editing, the  next  depression of  the Enter  key
  18.         writes the edited values back to the CMOS.

  20.         We have added a screen labeled  POS Auxiliary to display the POS
  21.         (configuration registers) on micro-channel  systems, and a Debug
  22.         Auxiliary to display the debug registers on 80386 systems.

  24.         The read file function is a common source of mistakes.  You have
  25.         to set the  file-origin before reading a  file.  Otherwise, your
  26.         file will be read into  location zero, overwriting the interrupt
  27.         cells and requiring you to reboot your computer.
  28.  
  29.         The  colors can  now  all  be changed  to  white  with a  single
  30.         keystroke.  Just move the cursor to  the Screen line, then press
  31.         the W key.

  33.         Quaid Analyzer now  saves the contents of the  screen buffer for
  34.         all  ega  and   vga  modes.   It  does  not   save  the  palette
  35.         information, so programs using the palette may have their colors
  36.         altered.

  38.         The stack display now shows the  first few words accessible from
  39.         ss:bp as well as those following ss:sp.

  41.         We show the status of the shift  keys on the Main Menu.  This is
  42.         because Quaid Analyzer  occasionally thinks that the  shift keys
  43.         are depressed, even when they are  not, with the result that you
  44.         can not  use the  function keys.   When the  Main Menu  shows an
  45.         erroneous  shift  key, press  and  release  both shift  keys  to
  46.         correct  the  situation.   We  can   not  correct  this  through
  47.         programming, because it  happens after an unavoidable  loss of a
  48.         keyboard interrupt during entry into Quaid Analyzer.

  50.         Quaid Analyzer is too big for  some programs that themselves use
  51.         most of the  memory.  We have included a small  version of Quaid
  52.         Analyzer, called qsmall.com,  with most of the  luxuries removed
  53.         that occupies only 47k bytes.  To  install this one in permanent
  54.         memory, type qsmall, patch at least  one interrupt and press the
  55.         F7 key, or use the DOS  command qsmall with an interrupt number.
  56.         There is  no menu  in qsmall, and  it does  not save  the screen
  57.         buffer, so whenever  you return to the user  program, the screen
  58.         will be blank.

  60.         A  few  computers can  not  use  Quaid  Analyzer because  of  an
  61.         irregular  keyboard handler  in the  BIOS.   The version  qsmall
  62.         should run even on those computers, since qsmall recognizes only
  63.         the keys that were on the old 83 key keyboard.

  65.         Quaid Analyzer can be installed by using the DOS command:
  66.             qa 5
  67.         telling  Quaid  Analyzer  to install  itself  with  interrupt  5
  68.         patched, and return  immediately to the DOS prompt.   In the new
  69.         version on this diskette, it is  possible to patch more than one
  70.         interrupt at the  time of installation, so you can  give the DOS
  71.         command:
  72.             qa 5 15
  73.         to  install  Quaid  Analyzer  with interrupts  5  and  15  (hex)
  74.         patched.

  76.         On computers  equipped with an  Intel 8088 processor  running at
  77.         4.77 Megahertz, the silent proxy can  not be used on interrupt 8
  78.         (timer).  The processor is too slow.

  180.                      OmniEdit is a powerful two dimensional editor,
  181.                      word processor, calculator  and communications
  182.                      package.   It will  allow you  to capture  and
  183.                      move rectangular areas within other DOS files,
  184.                      justify  paragraphs, search  and replace,  and
  185.                      "undo"  the   last  function   performed.   In
  186.                      addition, it can send  and receive files using
  187.                      the Xmodem protocol.  OmniEdit uses DOS files,
  188.                      without any special markers, so you can use it
  189.                      with just about any other software.  The price
