- This archive contains the files:
-
- DISINF.AVB - "disinfection" database
- README.DOC - this file
- AVP.SET - local SET file
-
- The base DISINF.AVB contains the records that are not included into main
- anti-virus database. This is the only reason to extract these records and
- place it in separate base: to make main database not such bulky. Several
- records were copied from main database into DISINF one, and disinfection
- information was removed from original records. Of course, the main database
- still detects these viruses, but disinfection is possible with DISINF base
- only.
-
- Th DISINF database is used together with KERNEL database and local SET
- file. You should run AVP together with DISINF database in case of infection
- of the viruses:
-
- Virus name Why it is here
- ----------------------------------------------------
- BOMBER virus The disinfection procedure occupies too lot of system memory
- to be included into main database.
-
- SMEG viruses The main database does not disinfect these viruses in 100%,
- but DISINF does it. The disinfection procedure is very slow
- to be placed in main database.
-
- DIRII viruses These viruses are quite old to be in wild, moreover the
- most part of them does not replicate under DOS 4.0 and
- above. I see no reason to keep disinfection information
- (which is quite large) in main databaase.
-
- Voronezh These viruses are not in the wild, so the disinfection
- viruses information was moved from main database to DISINF base.
