  3. READ ME FILE FOR MATHCAD PLUS 6.0 PATCH PROGRAM

  7. This patch program for Mathcad PLUS 6.0 will patch
  8. all English-language versions of Mathcad PLUS 6.0.
  9. This patch program will *not* patch foreign-language
  10. versions of Mathcad PLUS 6.0 (French, German,
  11. Japanese), nor will it patch any version of Mathcad
  12. 6.0 Standard Edition or Mathcad 6.0 Student Edition.
  13.  
  14. This patch program will patch existing versions of
  15. Mathcad PLUS 6.0 to level 6.0c. If your version of
  16. Mathcad PLUS is already at level 6.0c (determine this
  17. by seeing if the serial number on your startup screen
  18. ends in the letter "c"), this patch program will have
  19. no effect.
  20.  
  21. To run the Mathcad 6.0 patch program, you will need to
  22. know where your Mathcad program files are located. By 
  23. default these files are installed by the Mathcad 
  24. installation program in the C:\WINMCAD directory. 
  25. If you are unsure about where your Mathcad program 
  26. files are located, search for the directory that 
  27. contains the Mathcad program MCAD.EXE.
  28.  
  29. If you have moved Mathcad program files to new 
  30. directories after Mathcad installation, see the 
  31. CUSTOM PATCH INSTRUCTIONS at the end of this file.

  33. NOTE: The patch program will not make any changes to
  34. any Mathcad MCD, PRN, DAT, or AVI files you have created. 
  35. You may safely leave your working Mathcad files in any 
  36. directories where the patch is taking place.

  38. STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
  39.  
  40. 1. Open a DOS Prompt window in your version of Windows.
  41.  
  42. 2. Type the following command at the command prompt:
  43.  
  44.     A:\PATCH C:\WINMCAD A:\MCAD.RTP
  45.  
  46. Substitute in the command string the name of the 
  47. directory where the patch program is located if it 
  48. is not in A:\. Substitute a full path to your 
  49. installation of Mathcad 6.0 if it is not located in 
  50. the C:\WINMCAD directory. For example, if you have
  51. downloaded the patch program to the C:\MYSETUP directory
  52. and your copy of Mathcad is in the C:\MYMCAD directory,
  53. you should type
  54.  
  55.     C:\MYSETUP\PATCH C:\MYMCAD C:\MYSETUP\MCAD.RTP
  56.  
  57. 3. The patch program will make changes to MCAD.EXE and 
  58. several other Mathcad program files. When the program 
  59. terminates, you may exit the DOS Prompt to return to Windows.
  60.  
  61. 4. Launch Mathcad as you normally would. You will know that 
  62. the patch has taken effect if you see the letter "c" after 
  63. your serial number on the Mathcad start-up screen.

  74. CUSTOM PATCH INSTRUCTIONS

  76. If you have moved Mathcad program files from their original
  77. installed locations, you may patch the program files
  78. individually. If you are able to patch your Mathcad files 
  79. using the instructions above, however, you should not need 
  80. to do this and may safely ignore all that follows.

  82. For example, if you want to patch the file FOO.BAR which 
  83. is in the directory \FOODIR you type
  84.  
  85.     A:\PATCH /file:FOO.BAR \FOODIR A:\MCAD.RTP
  86.  
  87. assuming that the program PATCH.EXE is located in A:\.
  88.  
  89. The list of files to be patched is given in the file MCAD.RTD
  90. that accompanies these patch instructions.
