Transcription: The Sturgeon class of submarines were built as a follow on to the permit class design. The Sturgens were built with the same hull design as permit submarines but were given more internal space. This extra room allowed for the addition of new electronics. Although the sturgeon submarines are larger, they are still able to use the S5W nuclear reactor and maintain a speed of 26 knots. Sturgeon boats are also capable of diving more than 1300 feet.
