  1. Net Chess v1.1

  4. This chess program is a two player version, meant for either "hot-seat" games 
  5. or games across the Internet.  All that is required to play are vbrun300.dll 
  6. installed in your Windows directory and a winsock connection to the internet 
  7. (for Internet games).
  8.  
  9. Playing is simple - simply click the mouse on the piece to move, and then 
  10. click on the place to move it to.  Castles are accomplished by moving the king 
  11. over two spaces - the rook will move automatically.  The last move can be 
  12. undone by clicking on the "Undo" button.  
  13.  
  14. To setup an Internet game - First contact your opponent and setup a time.  
  15. Decide which of you will be the server and which will be the client.  The 
  16. server will need to somehow communicate his/her IP address to the client.  If 
  17. one of the players has a dedicated IP address then he/she should be the 
  18. server.  If both players have dynamic IP addresses, then the server should 
  19. email his/her IP address to the other player.

  21. Once these decisions are made, each player should connect to the net using a 
  22. program such as Trumpet Winsock.  Once the connection is completed, the server 
  23. should email his/her IP address as necessary.  Each should start up the Chess 
  24. program and select the Network->Setup menu item.  Click on the server or 
  25. client button as previously decided and complete the name text box.  The 
  26. server should immediately click "OK" and then select the Network->Connect 
  27. menu item.  The client should enter the IP address in the server address text 
  28. box as soon as it is known and choose which color he/she would like to be.  
  29. After clicking "OK", select Network->Connect and if the address is right and 
  30. the server is waiting, the connection should be complete.

  32. To send a personal message, click on the "Send Msg" button and input the text 
  33. to send.  The message will appear on the bottom of the other player's screen.  
  34. If you put the other player into check, simply click on the "Check" button and 
  35. the other player will see a message box informing him/her of the situation.  
  36. If the other player made an illegal move, click on the "Undo" button and it 
  37. will be taken back.

  43.   No support for en passant captures
  44.   Cannot undo castles and pawn-queen conversions
