  250. NOTES:  SHAPING THE BRAIN?  Discover Magazine 
  251. cited a recent study by German neurologists 
  252. showing that music training had an 
  253. anatomical effect upon the brain by 
  254. enlarging the corpus callosum.  This was 
  255. especially true among those who began 
  256. music training before age seven, shaping the 
  257. young brain, even strengthening neural 
  258. connections.  University of Dusseldorf 
  259. neurologist Gottfreid Schlaug concluded:  "I 
  260. don't have kids, but when I do, they're going 
  261. to play piano--and start young."

  290. more.  Each month in 1995, we anticipate
