  8. Welcome to Internet VoiceChat Version 1.0, a unique new program for PC's with
  9. WinSock.  IVC allows two users to conduct a live voice conversation over the
  10. Internet, right from their PC's!  Much effort has been devoted to making 
  11. Internet VoiceChat as easy to use and user-friendly as possible.  I sincerely
  12. hope you enjoy IVC and find it useful.  Please see the included file 
  13. LICENSE.DOC for license information.

  15. You will find two .ZIP files included on this disk, IVC.ZIP and WINSYS.ZIP.

  17. First, make a directory on your hard drive called \IVC.  Unzip the IVC.ZIP 
  18. file into this directory.
  19.  
  20. Next, change to your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and unzip the WINSYS.ZIP file.
  21. This archive contains the Visual Basic runtime module as well as some custom
  22. controls that are required by the main IVC.EXE program.
  23.  
  24. Finally, start Windows and add the file \IVC\IVC.EXE to the program
  25. group of your choice.  It is a good idea to specify the startup directory so
  26. IVC can easily find its help file.

  28. You are now ready to click the Internet VoiceChat icon and initiate a voice
  29. conversation over the net!  See the help file for details, and good luck!

  33. ******************************* TROUBLESHOOTING ****************************

  35. If you encounter problems getting IVC to transmit voice recordings, it is
  36. possible that IVC 1.0 is not compatible with your particular implementation
  37. of WinSock.  (It is known that IVC currently does not work with Peter
  38. Tattam's Trumpet WinSock.)  Due to a subtle difference among various
  39. vendors' implementations of Winsock, IVC will not operate properly on
  40. certain systems.

  42. This problem is being addressed and a new version will be relased soon. 
  43. Version 1.1 will contain completely rewritten code and should eliminate any
  44. and all incompatibilities.  The next version will be available free of
  45. charge to all registered users of version 1.0.

  47. As soon as version 1.1 is completed, it will be available on popular WinSock
  48. FTP sites such as winftp.cica.indiana.edu.
