- ATTENTION:
-
- I use AutoNet every single day, almost three or four times
- a day to retrieve files for my board: The AntiVirus ROCK.
-
- I usually notice 99% of the problems, personally. If I
- miss some, make sure the tell me about them.
-
-
-
-
- Read this only if you have problems with AutoNet.
-
- Since the Internet is not reliable, nor is it predictable, this
- program is bound to have some difficulties. Here are some of
- the probable questions you may have:
-
-
-
- And remember the ten commandments of the AutoNet:
-
- 1. Though shalt not bang on the ALT-X key four thousand times
- before giving AutoNet time to respond.
-
- 2. Though shalt not complain to ME about how slow the Internet
- is during the proverbial Internet rush hour.
-
- 3. Though shalt not sit and watch AutoNet run, and wonder
- why it pauses between certain statements. If you were
- as unreliable as the Internet, I would pause too!
-
- 4. Though shalt not correct the Author's grammar.
-
- 5. Though shalt not make a 7,000 line agenda and wonder why
- its still running when you get home.
-
- 6. Though shall give me more ideas to put in these slots since
- I am fresh out of them! :-)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- 1. AutoNet doesn't log into my Internet provider!
-
- When AutoNet logs on, it looks for 'login:' or 'Username:' then
- fills in your info. Chances are you don't have a standard prompt
- or you got an ugly menu to sort through.
-
- You'll need to write a login "script" to get you through the initial
- menus or prompts, and straight to the Internet's UNIX SHELL.
-
-
- 2. AutoNet doesn't recognize my serial port.
-
- AutoNet works with port 1-4. Any wierd IRQ settings are not supported,
- yet. I'll add more expandability to this humongous thing later!
-
-
- 3. Your SCRIPT and LOGIN commands don't work.
-
- Try using UPPER CASE, like the examples.
-
- Proper: DELETE *.zip
- RUN myscrip.scr
- LOGIN myscrip.scr
-
-
- 4. When its on the Internet, it sometimes hangs there and doesn't
- know what to do.
-
- Nothing is perfect, and certainly not an expensive program like this :-)
- AutoNet is configured for the Internet the best I could manage.
- The Internet is sometimes like Windows.. moody and unpredictable.
- (Some people would say Women are like that too)
- If you know an Internet site will screw AutoNet up, just mail me
- the site name or number, and I will personally log on, and try to
- adjust the next version to accomodate it.
-
-
- 5. AutoNet skips over the first line in the agenda file.
-
- Very rarely, if a large number of files are open, it will do that.
- (This happens to me only once every month or so) Just stick something
- useless in your first line of the config file if this becomes a problem.
- Example: WAIT 1
- ...remainder of agenda file
-
-
- 6. AutoNet looks a lot like ROBOCOMM.
-
- Not really. The first version did, but I have tried to gear it away
- from that. Things like "agenda" and "remain online" are similar, but
- those are just functions that every automated comm program should have.
