-
-
- ----- 1. What is `ALife Tank Screen Saver'?
-
- ALife Tank Screen Saver is a virtual aquarium of artificial entities.
-
- Fifty artificial life-forms interact in an environment in which they
- will eat, grow, reproduce, evolve, and die.
- NOTE: Creatures can only move about in the unregistered version
- (See also #4. - Differences between the Registered and Unregistered
- versions)
-
-
- ----- 2. Installation
-
- (1) Create a folder (example C:\ALTSS)
- (2) Move ALTSS6eb.exe to the new folder and run it.
- (3) Move ALTSS6eb.scr to the 'Windows' folder under Main_Folder
-
- (for example; C:\Windows)
-
-
- ----- 3. Set Up

- (3) Select 'ALTSS6eb' at 'Screen Saver'

- Password field. (See also #5 - How to register')
-
- (8) Click `OK' on the dialog box
- (9) Click `OK' on the Screen Saver dialog box
-
-
- ----- 4. Difference between Registered and Unregistered
-
- In the Unregistered trial version, creatures only move about the screen.
- Once you register, you will receive a password to upgrade your copy of
- ALife Tank Screen Saver version 1.X.
-
- Creatures in the registered version evolve and interact with other
- virtual creatures on the screen. When two ALife creatures touch each
- other, offspring are often produced through an exchange of genetic
- information in the form of ALife algorithms. Stronger ALife creatures may
- consume the weaker ones, or the weak creatures may just die. Watching
- these virtual critters interact is so much fun, you may never want to
- deactivate your screen saver again!
-
-
- ----- 5. How to Register
-
- Payment by credit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express) is available
- on Kagi: http://www.kagi.com
-
- Now you can register in English easily with "register.exe" file.
- The proce is US$9.00.
-
- "register.exe" automatically generates an e-mail which you should send
- to sales@kagi.com. After they got the e-mail, they will send you the
- registration key(pass word) to upgrade it into registered version.
-
- If you have any question on register.exe or Kagi, Just see "register.hlp"
- file.

-
- ----- 8. Changes
- 0.5b -> 0.6b
- *Added "Vacuum Points," which suck creatures around them
- when they turn red. The creatures sucked by them have
- more chances to be eaten or bear children than usual.
- This is the measure for that there were less chances
- to such events as they have been moving in the quasi-3D
- since 0.4b.
- *Regulated colors of creatures. Lowered luminosity and
- vividness.
-
- 0.4b -> 0.5b
- *Now they move in the quasi-3D environment.
- *Added 4 more Mutation Points.(total 5 points)
- *Reformed shapes of creatures.
-
- 0.3b -> 0.4b
- *As the creatures converges into one species after you run
- for a long time, we add a 'Mutation Point.' If a creature
- steps that point, it mutates.
-
- 0.2b -> 0.3b
- *Increased probabilities of mutation when they bear children
- (Registered version only)
-
- 0.1b -> 0.2b
- *Add a function for variation number of creatures.
- *Made movements more complex.
