  2. PMdiff version 3.0 release notes (1st July 1995)

  4. For IBM OS/2** Warp 3.0, Microsoft Windows NT** 3.5, and 
  5. Windows 95**. PMdiff 3.0 will _NOT_ run on OS/2 2.x or Windows 
  6. NT 3.1.

  9. INTRODUCTION

  11. PMdiff is a graphical file comparison application. It works the
  12. way you work. Visually. Files are displayed side by side. 
  13. Differences are highlighted and lines are drawn showing how the
  14. files are related.
  15.  
  16. PMdiff allows you to select text from two versions of a file
  17. and produce a new version containing just the changes you want.
  18.  
  19. The Windows NT version of PMdiff 3.0 enables you to compare
  20. directory structures and the files within them, quickly and
  21. easily.
  22.  
  23. PMdiff for OS/2 is fully integrated with OS/2's Workplace
  24. Shell. To compare files, simply drag and drop them onto the
  25. PMdiff object, or onto the running application.
  26.  
  27. PMdiff is highly configurable. Fonts and colours and other
  28. settings can be altered to show changes in a way that suits
  29. you. Check the friendly on-line help for details.

  31. PMdiff makes full use of OS/2 and NT's advanced features.
  32. Such as notebooks and pop-up menus (via mouse button two).

  34. PMdiff is an excellent addition to any OS/2 or NT software
  35. development product. See 'Licensing PMdiff' in the on-line
  36. help for details of how to bundle PMdiff with your
  37. leading-edge system.

  39. PMdiff is available for IBM OS/2 Warp version 3.0, Microsoft 
  40. Windows NT 3.5, and Windows 95.

  43. INSTALLATION
  44.  
  45. Run the friendly installation program (instos2.exe for OS/2 or 
  46. setup.exe for NT and Windows 95) supplied with the package. You 
  47. can install from floppy or hard disk.  You may also use the Add 
  48. Programs icon in the Windows 95 Control Panel to install PMdiff
  49. (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs).

  51. Should you wish to uninstall the OS/2 version of PMdiff, simply
  52. run the uninstallation program, uninst.cmd. You may manually
  53. uninstall the NT version by deleting the contents of the PMdiff
  54. installation directory and then the PMdiff 3.0 group in Program 
  55. Manager.

  58. GENERAL NOTES
  59.  
  60. PMdiff for OS/2 makes extensive use of drag and drop. Use it to
  61. load files or change colours and fonts. Experiment with the
  62. second mouse button. It activates a pop-up menu containing many
  63. useful short-cuts.

  65. The on-line help is comprehensive, although not all items are
  66. available from General Help. Check out the Help Index to make
  67. sure that you don't miss anything.

  72.   and mary1.txt, mary2.txt

  77. EVALUATION VERSION
  78.  
  79. PMdiff is the result of many months of dedicated development
  80. effort. It exists in evaluation and licensed versions.
  81.  
  82. The two version are identical, except that the evaluation
  83. version does not allow preferences to be saved, won't save
  84. merged files and pops up messages from time to time reminding
  85. you of the benefits of registering. You may distribute the
  86. evaluation version freely, and use it for up to 21 days.
  87. If you find it useful then you are asked to register
  88. it. This won't cost you much, and will gain you
  89.  
  90. * a disk containing the latest licensed versions (for
  91.     both OS/2 and NT) allowing preferences and merged
  92.     files to be saved

  105. LICENSED VERSION
  106.  
  107. The licensed version of PMdiff allows you to save your
  108. preferences between sessions and save merged files.
  109. This is to reward you for registering PMdiff.
  110.  
  111. You may install the licensed version on several machines.
  112. However, you must ensure that only the number of copies
  113. purchased are in use at any given time. You may use _either_
  114. the OS/2 _or_ the NT version at a time, not both simultaneously
  115. (unless, of course, you have purchased two or more licences).
  116.  
  117. For example, perhaps you have bought only one copy. You can
  118. install it on your desktop office machine, and your laptop. Even
  119. your home machine. But PMdiff must be run on only one of the
  120. machines at any given time.

  123. WARRANTY

  131. PMdiff 3.0  All known outstanding faults fixed. Goto
  132.             next/previous difference buttons, keyboard support
  133.             and file merge capability added. Also, optional
  134.             display of CR/LF characters and line numbers.
  135.             Icon updated. Tribble has experimented with
  136.             eye-shadow.

  138.             First port to Windows NT 3.5 and Windows 95. The 
  139.             OS/2 version is for OS/2 Warp 3.0 and higher only. 
  140.             It will not run on OS/2 2.x.

  143.             for OS/2 v3.0 from Borland C++ for OS/2 v1.5.
