- Winsock RCP/RSH for Win32 1.7

-
- Winsock RCP/RSH are Win32/Windows Sockets versions of the RCP, RSH, and REXEC
- utilities normally found on Unix systems.
-
- Two versions of each utility are included. There are "console" versions of
- each command that output to a Windows console window. These are most useful
- when working from the Command Prompt. There is also a version of each utility
- that outputs to a standard window. You can then use the scroll bars to review
- the output, cut/paste the output to other windows, and save the window contents
- to a file.
-
- To use Winsock RCP/RSH, use PKUNZIP to uncompress the distribution file into
- a directory on your hard disk.
-
- You can then install Winsock RCP/RSH using the Setup program included or
- install it manually as described below.
-
- To use the Setup program, you must have the file VBRUN300.DLL installed on
- your system. This file must be in a directory included in your PATH
- environment variable. Normally, you will put this file in your Windows
- directory. This file is NOT included with Winsock RCP/RSH. It can be
- obtained from a number of BBS systems and online services. If you
- cannot obtain it, please contact Denicomp Systems.
-
- You will also need VBRUN300.DLL if you wish to use the Visual RCP, Visual
- RSH, and Visual REXEC programs included.
-
- However, if you only wish to use Winsock RCP/RSH from a Command Prompt,
- you can use the Manual Installation procedure and VBRUN300.DLL is not
- required.
-
-
- INSTALLATION USING THE SETUP PROGRAM
- ------------------------------------
-
- If you are using Windows NT 3.1 or 3.5, use File/Run from the Windows
- Program Manager menu. Enter the drive and directory name that contains the
- uncompressed files, followed by "SETUP".
-
- If you are using Windows 95, click on the "Start" button at the bottom of
- the screen and then choose "Run" from the pop-up menu that appears. Then,
- enter the drive and directory name that contains the uncompressed files,
- followed by "SETUP".
-
- For example, if you uncompressed Winsock RCP/RSH into the directory C:\RCP,
- type C:\RCP\SETUP.
-
- If the files are on a diskette, specify the diskette drive followed by "SETUP".
- For example, A:SETUP.
-
- Winsock RCP/RSH by default will be installed in the C:\RCPRSH32 directory. You
- can specify a different directory if you wish.
-
- The Winsock RCP/RSH for Win32 group will be created. Icons will be in this
- group for Visual RCP, Visual RSH, and Visual REXEC along with options to
- view/print the order form and the manual for using RCP/RSH/REXEC from the
- command line.
-
-
- MANUAL INSTALLATION
- -------------------
-
- None of the files in the Winsock RCP/RSH distribution are compressed. To
- install Winsock RCP/RSH manually, simply copy the files to the desired
- directory.
-
- You can use the Windows Program Manager to create a Program Group for Winsock
- RCP/RSH (use File/New). In that group, you can create three Program Items;
- one for Visual RCP, Visual RSH, and Visual REXEC. The command lines
- are \RCPRSH32\VRCP.EXE, \RCPRSH32\VRSH.EXE, and \RCPRSH32\VREXEC.EXE
- respectively (assuming you installed in \RCPRSH32; substitute the proper
- directory).
-
- If you are only going to use Winsock RCP/RSH from the Command Prompt, you
- do not need to create the Program Group if you do not wish. Simply include
- the directory containing Winsock RCP/RSH in your PATH.
