  2. GeNewIc MUD Client for Winsock, version 0.8alpha

  5. GeNewIc Mud Client for Winsock is designed to facilitate interaction with a MUD
  6. server, and can be used in place of the standard telnet command.
  7.  
  8. This program requires Windows 3.1 with Win32s 1.2 or later or Windows NT or
  9. Windows 95, and Winsock to run.
  10.  
  11. The major benifits of using this program over telnet are:
  12.  
  13. * Separate input and output windows, avoiding the most annoying aspect of using
  14.   telnet, in which the incoming text is interspersed with the outgoing text.
  15.  
  16. * Multiple hosts in different windows active simultaniously, allowing you to
  17.   "lurk"on several   hosts at the same time.
  18.  
  19. * Easy to use, remembers mud host names, ports, and optionally passwords, and
  20.   other logon text.
  21.  
  22. * Scroll back buffer, eliminating the need for page pausing on the mud server
  23.   side.
  24.  
  25. * Simple Triggers that support sound events, allowing you to wait for your
  26.   favorite person to log on, and be notified by sound, eliminating the need to
  27.   watch over the computer screen.

  29. * Macros, and a dockable/floating macro bar.

  34. * Fully asynchronous sockets programming model, never locking up your computer
  35.   while waiting for a network event to occur.

  37. * User selectable fonts. ( Courier or other non-proportional fonts only to
  38.   allow for proper positioning of online ascii art.)

  40. * Several word wrapping options including 80 columns / window size, and
  41.   character / word wrapping.

  43. * Floating / dockable toolbar allowing easy access to common commands.

  45. * C++ / Win32 programming model for added robustness.

  49. Setup of GMUD is fairly easy, copy  the program, and data file to a directory,
  50. and add to a program group (or in Win95, preferrably set it on the desktop :).
  51. Then start your winsock service, then run GMUD.
