  6. WHAT IS IT?
  7.  
  8. It's a Windows 3.1 utility to monitor system resources.
  9.

  11. WHAT IT DOES?
  12.  
  13. It will display a window with information about the available system
  14. resources, memory, and disk space. The display gets updated every second.
  15. In addition, will also display information about virtual memory, running
  16. modules, and will even tell you if your Pentium processor has the infamous
  17. "divide" bug.

  20. WHY DO YOU NEED IT?
  21.  
  22. To monitor your system, find out about memory leaks, understand why your
  23. are running out of memory or your system is crashing. It should have been
  24. included with Windows in the first place. Things being what they are, it's
  25. a Shareware add-on.

  30. The System Monitor is a Shareware product, and a contribution of $10 to the
  31. author would be greatly appreciated. However, the System Monitor will not
  32. beg you for money every time you start it - unlike some other Shareware.

  35. INSTALLATION
  36.  
  37. The file SYSMON.ZIP contains thirteen files:
  38.  
  39.                     README.TXT          SYSMON.EX_
  40.                     SETUP.EXE           SYSMON.HL_
  41.                     SETUP.LST           SYSMON.IN_
  42.                     SETUP1.EX_          THREED.VB_
  43.                     SETUPKIT.DL_        VBRUN300.DL_
  44.                     SSFORMFX.VB_        VER.DL_
  45.                     SYSMON.DL_

  47. To install the System Monitor, follow these 5 steps:
  48.  
  49. 1. Create a temporary directory and copy the file SYSMON.ZIP
  50.  
  51. 2. Run PKUNZIP - the command line should be: PKUNZIP SYSMON.ZIP
  52.  
  53. 3. Start Windows. In Program Manager, select the FILE menu and choose RUN.
  54.    Select the SETUP.EXE file on the temporary directory you have created
  55.    and click on OK.
  56.  
  57. 4. The System Monitor should install in a couple of seconds. You will be
  58.    asked for a directory. You can install the System Monitor in the WINDOWS
  59.    directory or in a separate directory.
  60.  
  61. 5. Delete the files in the temporary directory and remove the directory 
  62.    itself.

  64. The SETUP.EXE program does the following:
  65.     
  66.     - Installs SYSMON.EXE, SYSMON.INI and SYSMON.HLP in the selected
  67.       directory.
  68.     - Installs SYSMON.DLL, VBRUN300.DLL, THREED.VBX and SSFORMFX.VBX in
  69.       the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
  70.     - Creates an icon for the System Monitor.

  73. USING THE SYSTEM MONITOR
  74.  
  75. The System Monitor has a complete help. Once you start the System Monitor,
  76. simply press F1.
