- NOTE: if you are in need of technical help, it is best to FAX us a copy
- of your CONFIG.SYS. Most problems can only be found after looking at
- this file carefully. It is almost impossible to troubleshoot over a
- voice call without the CONFIG.SYS in front of a technician.

-
- Updated for SCSIworks! 1.3 release. Tested with Warp.
-
-
- September, 1993
-
- Updated the MiniSCSI T348 and T358 .ADDs for IBM ThinkPad 720.
- The ThinkPad 720 has eliminated all the processor wait states and this
- makes the transition times on the parallel port too fast to latch to.
- You can make the 720 work by slowing it down to 25MHz, or by using the
- new .ADD driver with a /M48 command line option. This forces a special
- mode for the 720 parallel port and adds 4 delay 'ticks' on the T358.
- This works with OS/2 2.1 and the ThinkPad 720c in our testing.
- The T348 just needs the /M08 command line switch.
-
- July 28, 1993
-
- Tested with OS/2 2.1 GA. Following the installation instructions
- supplied by IBM on page XVIII of their Install guide, everything
- installs fine!
-
- Updated drivers to support all mode select commands to make Photo CD
- work with OS2CDROM.DMD correctly.
-
- To enable interrupts in any driver, use the command line option /Ixx,
- where xx is the IRQ you require. Make sure you jumper the IRQ on the
- SCSI adapter as appropriate. If you select an IRQ that doesn't exist,
- the .ADD will automatically poll instead of using an IRQ.

- June 25, 1993
-
- Added the T160 driver for the T160/T260 16 bit SCSI adapters.
-
- Additional modifications to the T358 driver to allow for parallel port
- speed changes. Now the /Mnm options explained in the T358 manual will
- also work with OS/2. If you are having trouble getting the T358 to work
- with your SCSI device, try adding the command line option /m5 to add
- some delays to the T358 operation. Section 8 of the T358 MiniSCSI EPP
- manual discusses these options at length.

- AUTOMATIC INSTALLATION
-
- Copy all the files to a floppy. This floppy is now a device support
- diskette. Insert it in A: and run DDINSTAL from the OS/2 prompt. The
- Device Driver Install icon can be found by selecting the OS/2 System
- icon on the desktop, then the System Setup icon in that window. Insert
- your floppy in a disk drive and double click on the Device Driver
- Install icon.
-
-
- MANUAL INSTALLATION for OS/2 2.0 and OS/2 2.1 using OS2CDROM.DMD
-
- The desired driver must be copied to the OS/2 2.1 directory:
-
- COPY A:*.* C:\OS2
-
- This driver should be installed in the config.sys file as follows:
-
- ....
- IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q <=== CD-ROM only
- BASEDEV=TxxxSCSI.ADD <=== Trantor OS/2 driver
- BASEDEV=OS2DASD.DMD <=== for HD
- BASEDEV=OS2CDROM.DMD <=== CD-ROM only
- BASEDEV=NECCDS1.FLT <=== For NEC CD-ROM only
- BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD (other .FLT files
- for other drives)
- ....
- where xxx stands for the adapter type: 128, 13B, 338, 348.
-
- OS2CDROM.DMD and the appropriate .FLT files are supplied by IBM for
- CD-ROM support under OS/2 2.1.
-
- All of the above drivers are necessary for CD and HD support. They
- should be inserted in your CONFIG.SYS. Some of these drivers
- might already be in your CONFIG.SYS file. All drivers except for
- TxxxSCSI.ADD are usually placed in the OS2 directory during the initial
- OS2 installation.
-
-
-
- The OS/2 .ADD driver we supply is fully compatible with any driver that
- interfaces with the .ADD specification for OS/2 2.0. It will work
- transparently with any hard disk supported by OS/2.
-
-
- OPTICAL DRIVES:
- IBM supplies a driver called OPTICAL.SYS for use with their 3.5"
- Magneto-Optical drive and other Magneto-Optical drives. We have
- confirmed that it works correctly with this .ADD release.
-
- In addition, we have implemented an optional command line switch that
- will enable some Magneto-Optical drives to be treated like a hard drive
- when OPTICAL.SYS is not available. Adding the command line parameter of
- /o to the .ADD driver forces the operating system to treat an MO drive
- as a standard hard drive.
-
-
- CD-ROM DRIVES:
-
- OS/2 2.1 OS2CDROM.DMD
-
- Various .FLT files are available to provide support for non SCSI-2
- drives. These are provided by IBM along with the OS2CDROM.DMD driver.
-
-
- In order to have a CD-ROM drive show on your desktop with a CD-ROM icon,
- you must have a CD-ROM disc in your drive when the system is booted. If
- you boot with an empty CD-ROM drive, the drive icon will appear as a
- floppy disk instead of a CD-ROM disc. This will not affect the
- operation of the CD-ROM drive itself.
-
- If you have a CD-ROM drive with multiple Logical Units (LUNs), like the
- Pioneer DRM-600, you will be able to access all Logical Units with the
- August, 1992 driver. To restrict the number of logical units, the /U
- command line parameter can be used to recognize only 1 Logical Unit of
- the possible 6 in the DRM-600. This command line switch also works with
- hard disk drives that incorrectly report LUNs.
-
-
- HARD DISK DRIVES
- Format the SCSI device first from DOS with the TFORMAT program that
- comes included with the Trantor SCSI adapter. Select a single partition
- after low level formatting the drive.
-
- Boot OS/2 with the drivers installed and format the disk with the OS/2
- formatter.
-
- We have found removable media must be formatted with the OS/2 format
- program before it can be recognized. Just format it as though it is a
- floppy... selecting a 2.8M floppy, for instance, formats a Syquest
- drive to 42M just fine. Removable media drives are not interchangeable
- between DOS and OS/2.
-
-
- NOTES:
- - Removable media is supported. It was tested with a SyQuest drive.
- - OPTICAL.SYS provided by IBM will support MO drives.
- - option /o supports MO drives by treating them like HD's.
- - option /u restricts the number of Logical Units. Default is 7
- - option /ixx allows setting the interrupt level in the driver,
- where xx is the unique IRQ you want to use
-
- T128 jumper settings
-
- Some OEM manuals don't have the jumper settings of the T128 card in
- their manual. For the T128 card, place a jumper shorting pin on JP1:
- ______
- IRQ3 | . . |. . . .
- |______|
- 1 . . . . . .
-
-
- IRQ5 . . . . . .
- ______
- | . . |. . . .
