Loading the DPTDDL.SYS with QEMM 7.5 will prevent users from formatting a
floppy disk by displaying a "violating memory protection" message.
DOS Verify will hang the HBA if enabled.
Novell Netware:
If using Netware 4.0 and workstation VLMs, use an HBA interrupt other than
IRQ 15 for DPT HBAs in the server.
If using Netware duplexing, use an HBA interrupt other than IRQ 15 level for
DPT HBAs in the server.
After a RAID drive failure when a Hot Spare is attached, the Event Logger will
display "Array Dead: Multiple Drive Failure". This only indicates that the
Spare drive and failed drive have swapped places, and the failed drive is now
referred to as a "failed Hot Spare". There is no cause for alarm.
Occasional "SCSI Bus Resets" appearing on the console during bus scans, drive
crashing, or heavy load on a degraded array are normal and does not indicate
a failure of the DPT product. All commands are automatically retried and no
data loss or interruption of I/O will occur.
Bringing down a Netware server with the DOWN command will flush the HBA cache
and then put the HBA into a write-thru mode until the system has exited to
DOS. Since the Netware 4.0 RESTART will do an implicite DOWN before reloading, this command will have a disastrous performance effect on the system and should not be used.
Netware 2.2 will not support PCI HBAs, even at EISA forced addresses.
If using OS/2 2.0 or 2.1 on an EISA HBA, change the default interrupt type in EISA Config from Level to Edge. This problem has been corrected in the 2.1 service pack and 2.11 release or higher. Likewise, since PCI is level only, it will not be supported on these earlier releases.
OS/2 2.11:
Please set the board I/O address to 1C88hh (ctrl <d> at boot) instead of Auto.
The version of the driver supplied does not support PCI address
configurations.
NOTE: The functionality of the board is not affected and it will run in PCI
mode.
If using OS/2 2.0 or higher, do not reboot the system while a build is in
progress. Let the build complete then boot OS/2.Only the first channel of a
multi-channel HBA is currently supported.
OS/2 WARP:
Only the first channel of a multi-channel HBA is currently supported with the
driver on the OS/2 CD-ROM
If Multichannel support is desired please use the disk created by Storage
The Windows 32-bit IDE driver will not load if the DPT HBA is present.
This forces Windows to use the standard 16-bit INT13 driver if an IDE drive is present, causing a very slight performance difference during accesses to the IDE. The performance of the DPT HBA is not affected.
