  3. About The Program
  4.  
  5. 1.  This is a heavy duty Word Processing Program intended for a wide
  6.     variety of word processing and editing tasks. As installed, it is
  7.     ideal for the touch typist - there is no need to take your hands
  8.     off the home row to activate any of the functions.
  9.  
  10. 2.  The keyboard commands are fully configurable from an installation
  11.     program. Many of the options are also configurable from inside the
  12.     program. As supplied, it comes installed with a WordstarTM
  13.     compatible interface.
  14.  
  15. 3.  The word processor document files are ascii text files, which
  16.     means that there are no funny embedded characters (unless you use
  17.     the print control sequences) and no hi order bits set on. The
  18.     files are WordstarTM compatible, which means that you can load
  19.     them into any wordprocessor that reads Wordstar files. Apart from
  20.     printer control strings, all formatting commands are by use of dot
  21.     commands (. in column one) or embedded functions ({. }) in the
  22.     text body.

  24. 4.  There are up to 8 editing windows, which can look at different
  25.     files or the same file.
  26.  
  27. 5.  The program is easy to learn, since it comes with context
  28.     sensitive help available at the press of the F1 key.
  29.  
  30. 6.  The program comes supplied with industry standard Pull Down Menus
  31.     to make learning it even easier. The point and select usage means
  32.     that touch typists do not need to lift their hands from the home
  33.     row. In addition, each command on the pull down menu can
  34.     optionally display the command sequence needed to activate it.
  35.  
  36. 7.  Printer support includes laser printers. It is easy to customize
  37.     the printer drivers.
  38.  
  39. 8.  The program comes with a 100,000 word dictionary (registered users
  40.     only) and an update program that will add or delete words from the
  41.     dictionary.

  43. 9.  The program can generate indexes and tables of contents.
  44.  
  45. 10. The program comes with macro facilities, the ability to record
  46.     keystrokes, and a number of macro files for additional
  47.     flexability.

  49. 11. Printing can include other files, which can in turn include other
  50.     files, up to 5 levels of nesting. This means that even the biggest
  51.     novel or research paper can be easily managed.

  53. 12. Automatic reformatting of text is available.
  54.  
  55. 13. Newspaper style columns are supported, as is word wrap and
  56.     justification of each column independently. Column mode blocks can
  57.     be defined and copied, moved or deleted.
  58.  
  59. 14. Comprehensive monitor support - MONO, CGA, EGA or VGA or HERCULES.
  60.  
  61. 15. DOS shell is supplied to permit use of all DOS commands from
  62.     within the program.

  64. 16. A pop up calculator with 16 functions is included. The calculation
  65.     result can be pasted into your text.

  67. 17. The program comes with support for box and line drawing, with
  68.     these characters available at the press of a key. Load the macro
  69.     files SINGLE.MAC for single lines and DOUBLE.MAC for double lines.

  71. 18. Optional on screen display of fonts is also available. You can
  72.     edit text with this mode operating (unlike wordstar).

  74. 19. Printing can have multiple headers and footers, and these can
  75.     include functions such as current date or time. These functions
  76.     are also available within the text body.

  78. 20. Hundreds of other sophisticated features like insertion of current
  79.     date or time (in different formats), the ability to mark changed
  80.     text in the left hand margin, offset page number on odd or even
  81.     pages and so on.

  83. 21. The installed command make it perfect for Lap tops, while the
  84.     cursor can be changed to a hard block of color where it is
  85.     ordinarily hard to see.

  99.                           Install and edit them from the print menu
  100.                           (<ShiftF1> F P) W will load a print
  101.                           definition file, E will edit the file, while
  102.                           S will save the modified definition.

  107. Disk 3 - Word Fugue Dictionary Disk
  108.     WFDICT.EXE    - The dictionary maintenance program
  109.               Adds or Deletes words from dictionary
  110.     WF_MAIN.DIC    - This is the dictionary

  112. Running the Program
  113.  
  114. The manual describes how to install and run the program. Briefly - the
  115. overlay file (WF.OVR) must be in the default directory unless you have
  116. installed the home directory:

  118.     1. Make the Word Fugue directory the default directory
  119.     2. Run Word Fugue by typing in WF
  120.     3. Install the home directory by ShiftF1 O L H to display the
  121.        default directory. Press ENTER to record it, followed by ESC to
  122.        return to the options menu, S to save the defaults, and then
  123.        press ESC 3 times to exit the pulldown menus and return to text
  124.        entry mode
  125.  
  126. These instructions may seem long winded, but they are operating a
  127. pulldown menu, and will be intuitively obvious when you try it.
