  17. To install, double click setup.exe from within the WinZip
  18. window. Alternatively, extract all the files in the .zip
  19. to a temporary folder, then run setup.exe from there.

  22. Installation Problems

  24. If the installation program displays an Error dialog
  25. ôInstallation failedö, the problem is that your Windows
  26. installation did not correctly provide support for .inf
  27. setup files in the registry.
  28.  
  29. .inf file support requires correct registry settings,
  30. otherwise either the "Install.." item will not show up on
  31. the context menu or it can't be executed properly.

  34. Option 1. Attempt to fix the registry
  35.  
  36. The.zip file includes files for repairing the registry:
  37.  
  38. INFfix95.REG ... for Windows 95 and 98
  39. INFfixNT.REG ... for Windows NT 4
  40.  
  41. These files assume that Windows was installed in
  42. C:\WINDOWS.
  43.  
  44. Double click the appropriate file for your operating
  45. system.

  47. These files are also available from the Crystal Software
  48. web site home page, http://www.crystalsoftware.com.au

  51. Option 2. Manual install
  52. Note - this option does not create Start Menu items, add
  53. a shortcut on the desktop, create file associations or
  54. Send To locations.

  56. 1.   Extract all files in the .zip to folder C:\Program
  57. Files\Crystal Software\[program name] e.g. for TextPipe
  58.  
  59.   C:\Program Files\Crystal Software\TextPipe
  60.   
  61. 2.   Double click LFNrenew.bat to create the correct
  62.   install folders and convert the short filenames to the
  63.   correct long filenames
  64. 3.   For TextPipe only , double click textpipe_reg.reg to
  65.   create the registry entries

  68. Option 3. Re-install Windows
  69. If none of the above options work, then the required DLL
  70. DLL files (Windows 95: SetupX.dll, Windows NT:
  71. SetupAPI.dll) are missing. In this case, you have already
  72. destroyed relevant parts of his Windows installation and
  73. should re-install Windows.
