- This is the standard Pipes screen saver as shipped with Windows NT 3.5,
- except that I've hacked it to allow to change the frequency with which
- teapots appear. To change the frequency you have to use the registry
- editor.
-
- 1. Fire up REGEDT32 and select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER window
- 2. Navigate your way to Control Panel\Screen Saver.3DPipes
- 3. From the Edit menu choose Add Value
- 4. In the dialog enter TeapotPeriod as the value name and REG_SZ as the
- data type
- 5. Enter the value when prompted (see below)
-
- Once you've added the value "TeapotPeriod" then simply double click on
- it to change it, you don't have to go through the Add Value palaver
- each time.
-
- The value you enter is the average number of pipe joints between each
- teapot. The default is 1000 which means that on average there is a
- teapot every 1000 joints. Values of 10 or less litter the screen with
- teapots and severely slow the saver. Unless you're a teapot fanatic,
- 100 - 1000 is a reasonable range.
-
- NB In the Pipes setup dialog the joint style has to be set to "Mixed"
- or no teapots will appear.
