- Paul Downing - Boigraphy

- Paul was born in London (England) in 1966 and received a a thorough musical
- grounding as a chorister, 'cellist and pianist in the Oxford/Cambridge
- Associated Board tradition. At 17 he took up fretless bass inspired by the music
- of the jazz fusion band Weather Report, especially by the playing of Jaco
- Pastorious.

- After a year at the Leeds College of Music studying electric bass, Paul struck out
- on his own to work freelance. Paul later enrolled in an experimental course to
- explore the effect of the new technology on music at the prestigious Guildhall
- School of Music and Drama, studying advanced jazz, composition and arranging
- under the tutelage of Professor Peter Churchill.

- Paul has a wealth of experience of working live within the jazz/fusion genre as
- well as working with new music with Anne Clark, both recording and touring
- throughout Europe. Paul's current projects include composing, arranging and
- performing with the new bank Evalution, composing a concerto for strings and
- oboe as well as working with Anne Clark on her new album. Paul is also a much
- sought after session musician on bass guitar, double bass and cello.
