  3. Welcome to the Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word 6.0 
  4. Beta. This product is under continuing development and 
  5. quality  testing by Microsoft. We invite you to use it and 
  6. let us know of problems you encounter. Submit problem 
  7. reports by using  the form available at 
  8. http://www.microsoft.com/pages/deskapps/word/ia/form.htm or 
  9. by sending email to  wordhtml@microsoft.com. Please use 
  10. caution and save your work frequently while using this beta 
  11. product.

  13. This document contains the following information:  
  14. 1. TCPIP/WINSOCK.DLL compatibility   
  15. 2. Installing over previous beta versions of WordIA   
  16. 3. Removing Internet Assistant   
  17. 4. Misc. Issues

  19. 1.  TCPIP/WINSOCK.DLL Compatibility  
  20. Internet Assistant is compatible with Microsoft TCP/IP for 
  21. Windows for Workgroups 3.11 available from 
  22. http://www.microsoft.com/pages/bussys/wolverine/default.htm. 
  23. It is also compatible with the latest versions of  
  24. TCPIP/WINSOCK.DLL software available from many Internet 
  25. service providers. For current information on  compatibility 
  26. with TCPIP/WINSOCK.DLL software, check the page available at  
  27. http://www.microsoft.com/pages/deskapps/word/ia/support.htm.

  29. 2.  Installing over a previous beta version of Internet 
  30. Assistant.  If you have previously installed a previous beta version of 
  31. Internet Assistant, you must complete the following steps 
  32. prior to  running setup.exe.  
  33.   
  34. * Using Windows File Manager, find and delete all IW*.* 
  35.   files, using the following procedure.   
  36.     1. From the File menu, choose search   
  37.     2. In the Search For box, type: IW*.*  
  38.     3. In the Search From box, type: C:\ (or other hard 
  39.        drive location where you installed Internet Assistant   
  40.     4. Select all files in the resulting window, and then 
  41.        press DELETE  
  42. * Delete the templates HTML.DOT and WEBVIEW.DOT from your 
  43.   Word templates directory.   
  44. * Delete the file HTMLWLL.WLL from your Word startup 
  45.   directory.   
  46. * Delete the file WORDHTML.INI from your Windows directory.   
  47.   
  48. 3.  Removing Internet Assistant   
  49. You may remove Internet Assistant from your computer by 
  50. rerunning setup.exe and selecting "remove all". Note: You  
  51. may wish to back up favorite.doc in your winword\internet 
  52. subdirectory by saving it in under another name prior to  
  53. removing all Internet Assistant files.

  55. 4.  Misc. Issues
