  6. TreeSize Professional is a powerful and flexible harddisk space manager for
  7. Windows 9x/NT/2000. Find out which folders are the largest on your
  8. drives and recover Megabytes on it. Treesize Professional shows you the size,
  9. allocated and wasted space, the number of files, 3D bar charts and pie charts,
  10. the last access date and much more information for several folders or drives
  11. you choose. It also searches for old, big and temporary files on your hard
  12. disks. The application has an intuitive Explorer-like user interface and it is
  13. fast and multithreaded. You can print detailed reports or export the collected
  14. Data to Excel or a text file. TreeSize Pro can be started from the context
  15. menu of every folder or drive.

  18. INSTALLATION

  20. Click on Setup.exe and follow the instructions. It is possible to uninstall
  21. TreeSize Professional via Control Panel/Software. You can install and
  22. deinstall different version of TreeSize Professional independantly from each
  23. other.
  24. By installing TreeSize Professional you accept the license agreement outlined
  25. in License.txt

  30. TreeSize Professional is Shareware, that means you can try it and distribute
  31. the complete archive. If you decide to use it, you must register. Look in the
  32. help file for registration information.

  35. KNOWN PROBLEMS

  38. of known bugs and problems:

  40. * Export to Excel 95 will only work for german or english versions of Excel 95.
  41.   The export to Excel 97 and Excel 2000 will work for all versions.

  43. * TreeSize Pro requires V4.70 or higher of COMCTL32.DLL. This version is
  44.   available from Microsoft since October 1996 and is required by nearly every
  45.   modern software. Since it is installed on approximately 98% of all PCs,
  46.   we decided not to include it with TreeSize Professional any more, because
  47.   this reduces the download size by 430kb. For the case that you receive an 
  48.   error message concerning COMCTL32.DLL or the images on the toolbar are 
  49.   missing, please download Microsoft's update of COMCTL32.DLL (430kb) from:

  52. * TreeSize Professional does not yet handle the file based compression of the
  53.   Windows NT file system NTFS, so the values reported for allocated space may
  54.   be wrong if you use the file based compression of NTFS.

  73. * Under Windows 2000 TreeSize Professional sometimes followed the links in the
  74.   personal nethood folder and started scanning all available shares in the
  75.   network. This problem is now fixed.
  76. * Under Windows 2000 the previous versions scanned mounted volumes (new feature
  77.   of NTFS5) as normal folder, which produced wrong results.
  78. * The problem that TreeSize Pro tried to scan the FTP connections of WS FTP Pro
  79.   is now fixed too.
  80. * To fix the above problems, we have completely rewritten the scan routine.
  81.   As a result, scanning is now about 20% faster and needs about 70% less memory.
  82. * A problem with corrupt toolbar images under Windows 98 with certain video
  83.   drivers has been fixed.
  84. * When a chart was printed, the summary values of the root folder were printed
  85.   in the header instead of the values of the selected folder.

  88. * It's now easier to check several files in the search window by selecting
  89.   mutliple files with the Shift or Ctrl key and then using the context menu.
  90. * You can now chose to move the checked files in the file search window to the
  91.   recycle bin, to delete them from harddisk or to move them to a given folder.
  92.   This allows you to easily archive or zip these files. The directory
  93.   structure is preserved when moving!
  94. * You can tell the Oldest file search to return only folders in which *all*
  95.   files have not been accessed/changed since a certain date. This allows you
  96.   to identify larger unused parts of a file system than only individual files.
  97. * New charting engine: a better look and a smaller download size (an
  98.   additional DLL is not required any more)
  99. * The free space on a drive is included in the pie chart if a drive is
  100.   selected on the left pane and the "Allocated Space" mode is active.
  101. * New command line option: /CHART saves the current chart.
  102. * New command line option: /NOGUI hides the TreeSize Pro window when scanning
