There are four OCXs included in this release of Paradox 7. One of these OCXs has been included in a sample form, for the benefit of users who are interested in using OCXs in their applications.
The OCXs are provided for your evaluation, under an agreement between Borland and the OCX licensor. They are not Borland products. The sample form is called OCXDEMO.FSL, and uses the Visual Components Formula 1 spreadsheet OCX.
2) Installation
Each OCX is a standalone software component which must be installed and registered with Windows '95 prior to using the Paradox sample OCX forms. If an OCX is not installed properly, you will receive an error message when you open the form which contains the embedded OCX. (If you open the forms in design mode without first installing the OCXs, you'll see a large "undefined OLE object").
\OCX\VCFORM1\SETUP.EXE Install the Formula 1 OCX
\OCX\VCSPELL\SETUP.EXE Install the VisualSpeller OCX
\OCX\VCFIMP\SETUP.EXE Install the First Impression OCX
\OCX\PINNACLE\SETUP.EXE Install the Pinnacle OCX
NOTE: The pinnacle Setup program will give error messages
if a file already exists when it tries to write the file
to the system directory. Choose "Ignore" if this occurs,
as in many cases a user will already have these system files.
3) Using the Sample Form
After installing the OCXs, you are ready to use the sample form, and to place the newly-installed OCXs on your own Paradox 7 forms. When using OLE controls, such as an OCX, it's convenient to have these controls on your Object Toolbar (see the online help about the Object Toolbar). One way in which you can add the newly-installed OCX controls to your Object Toolbar is:
1) Open any form in design mode
2) Use View|Toolbars to enable the Object Toolbar
3) Right-click on the Object Toolbar
4) Select the "OLE controls..." tab of the tabbed toolbar and
right-click on it
5) Choose "Add OLE Control" and follow the dialog to add on OCX
