  1. To install ACDSee v5 on Windows 98/Me/NT/2000, your machine will require that your Windows Installer package is updated to 2.0.2066.2 first.

  3. To determine if you have the right version of Windows Installer on your machine:
  4.  
  5.   Click on Start, go to Find (or Search) and select Files or Folders.
  6.  
  7.   Type msi.dll in the drop-down box labelled "Named".
  8.  
  9.   Choose your drive in which Windows is installed (usually c:) in the box labelled "Look In"
  10.  
  11.   Click on the "Find Now" or "Search" button.
  12.  
  13.   When the msi.dll file appears in the Search window, right-click on the file and choose Properties.
  14.  
  15.   Click on the Version tab and verify the file version number.
  16.  
  17.   If the file version number isn't 2.0.2066.2 or later (or is missing), download and run the Windows Installer from:
