- ---VOICE READ-BACK ISSUES---
-
-
- --Feature Requirements
-
- If recognized text is not audible when exporting your
- document using the Read Text Aloud option, the volume
- may need to be adjusted, or your computer may be missing
- a sound card and/or speakers. Try adjusting the volume,
- or contact your computer manufacturer for information on
- obtaining the necessary accessories.
-
-
- --Deleting a page during Voice Read-Back
-
- Deleting a page while OmniPage Pro is in the process of
- reading text out loud does not delete the text that is being
- read. If you click Continue in the dialog box after loading
- and processing a new document, OmniPage Pro will finish reading
- the deleted text. Click Cancel in the dialog box to stop
- listening to the deleted text and click the Export Destination
- button on the Manual OCR toolbar with Read Text Aloud selected
- to have OmniPage Pro read the new text out loud.
-
-
-

-
-
- --Using Direct OCR (formerly "OCR Aware") in OmniPage Pro 10.0

- 5. Deselect the Enable OCR Aware option.
- 6. Close the dialog box and exit OmniPage Pro 9.0.
- 7. Open OmniPage Pro 10.0 and make sure that Enable Direct OCR
- is selected in the Options dialog box, and that the
- applications you want to use with Direct OCR are registered.

- Caere Scan Manager, your scanner will not work with your
- Caere software.

-
- Caere products were designed and built for Windows 95, 98, and
- NT. If you are running your Caere product on the Windows 2000
- platform, your scanner may not work as expected. Contact your

- supported under Windows 2000 and, if necessary, obtain a
- different scanner driver. Please refer to the Scanner Setup
- Notes for a list of manufacturers and links to their Web sites.

- ---DESKSCAN II 2.8 ISSUES---
-
-
- --Failing to restart cancels IE 5 installation
-
- 1. Install DeskScanII 2.8
- 2. Restart your computer as suggested.
- During restart, a dialog box asks for the location of a
- driver file.
- 3. Specify the file location and restart your computer after
- this file is installed.
-
- If you do not restart again, Internet Explorer 5.0
- (required for OmniPage Pro Help functionality) will not
- get installed correctly.
-
-
-
- ---PAGEKEEPER ISSUES---
-
-
- --Using OmniPage Pro with PageKeeper Pro 3.0
-
- To use PageKeeper Pro's Application toolbar to open images or
- OmniPage documents (*.opd) in OmniPage Pro, you need to make
- the following change in PageKeeper:
-
- 1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to
- C:\Program Files\Caere\PageKeeperPro30
- (or the location where you installed PageKeeper Pro 3.0).
- 2. Open the System folder.
- 3. Double-click the ibbprog.ini file.
- 4. In the [OMNIPAGE] section, change
- "NeedNoQuote=1" to "NeedNoQuote=0".
- 5. Restart PageKeeper Pro.
-
- To use PageKeeper Pro 3.0 with OmniPage Pro 9.0 or previous
- versions, change "NeedNoQuote=0" back to "NeedNoQuote=1".
-
- For information on adding and removing buttons from the
- PageKeeper Pro Application toolbar, see "Customizing the
- Application Toolbar" in the PageKeeper Pro 3.0 User's Manual.
-
-
- --Exporting Excel for Windows 97,2000 files to
- PageKeeper Pro 3.0
-
- If you attempt to export an OmniPage Pro 10.0 document to
- PageKeeper Pro 3.0 as an Excel for Windows 97,2000 file type,
- PageKeeper Pro displays an incorrect thumbnail representation
- of the document. It is not recommended that you open the
- document in PageKeeper View. You can, however, view the
- document in Excel by choosing "Open" in PageKeeper's File menu.
-
- To display the correct thumbnail representation and open the
- document in PageKeeper View, please follow this work-around
- solution:
-
- 1. Save the file from OmniPage Pro as Excel for Windows 97,
- 2000 [TP](*.xls). (Make sure that "Add to PageKeeper" is
- checked.)
- 2. Open the source file in Excel 2000.
- 3. Choose Save As in the Excel File menu.
- 4. Select "Microsoft Excel 97-2000 & 5.0/95 Workbook" in the
- "Save as type" drop-down list. Do not change the file name.
- 5. Save the file and close Excel.
- 6. Open PageKeeper Pro. The thumbnail should be correct and
- you should be able to open the document in PageKeeper View.
-
-
- --Saving documents to PageKeeper Pro 3.0 as Excel for
- Windows 97,2000 or Word for Windows 97,2000
-
- When saving a document from OmniPage Pro 10.0 as an Excel for
- Windows 97,2000 or Word for Windows 97,2000 file type with
- "Add to PageKeeper" selected, you will receive a message that
- you can only open a "read-only" copy of the document because
- it is already in use. This is because PageKeeper is indexing
- the document. If you choose to be notified when the document
- is available in the message that appears, the process can
- take five to ten minutes.
-
-
- --Using OmniPage Pro with PageKeeper Standard 3.0
-
- PageKeeper Standard 3.0 may have problems accepting Word for
- Windows 97,2000 and Excel for Windows 97,2000 file types
- directly from OmniPage Pro. If you save these file types from
- OmniPage Pro with the "Add to PageKeeper" option selected, and
- then immediately try to access the files in PageKeeper Standard,
- problem thumbnails (with a circle/slash) may appear in place
- of the documents. Or, the documents may not be added to
- PageKeeper Standard at all.
-
- To avoid this, please follow this work-around solution:
-
- 1. Save the Word for Windows 97,2000 or Excel for Windows 97,
- 2000 file from OmniPage Pro with the "Add to PageKeeper"
- option selected.
- 2. Open the saved file in Word or Excel.
- 3. Save the file again from Word or Excel.
- 4. Close the file.
- 5. Open PageKeeper Standard and look for the thumbnail
- representing the document.
- The correct document thumbnails should now be in place.
-
-
-
- ---IMAGE EDITOR ISSUES---
-
- --Problems getting edited graphics back into OmniPage Pro
-
- An edited graphic cannot be brought back into OmniPage Pro if your
- image editor saves the graphic with different color type and size
- dimensions. Upon returning to OmniPage Pro, conflicts of this kind
- are indicated by a message that says the dimensions of the graphic
- have changed and cannot be saved.
-
- To avoid conflicts, make sure your image editor is saving graphics
- with the same color type and size dimensions as they were originally
- in OmniPage Pro. Many image editors automatically change graphics to
- preset settings. However, some image editors allow you to change the
- settings when you save your graphic (usually through an option in the
- Save As dialog box).
-
-
- --Editing graphics using in-place activation
-
- In-place activation is not supported in this version of
- OmniPage Pro. Instead, your image editor will be launched
- separately when you edit graphics directly from OmniPage Pro.
-
-
-
- ---SAVING AND LAUNCHING DOCUMENTS---
-
-
- --Problems saving and launching multiple files
-
- If you create one file per page when saving a document from
- OmniPage Pro, problems may occur when using the "Save and Launch"
- feature. Problems of this type may be indicated by an error
- message in your target application and an inability to open one
- or more of your saved files.
-
- To avoid problems, do not use the "Create one file per page" and
- "Save and Launch" features together when saving documents from
- OmniPage Pro.
-
-
- --Problems adding files to PageKeeper when saving and launching
-
- If you have "Add to PageKeeper" selected when saving a document
- from OmniPage Pro, problems may occur when using the "Save and
- Launch" feature. Problems of this type may be indicated by an
- error message in PageKeeper and an inability to add your file
- to PageKeeper.
-
- To avoid problems, do not use the "Add to PageKeeper" and
- "Save and Launch" features together when saving documents
- from OmniPage Pro.
-
-
-
