If you have experienced problems accessing PC Pro cover CDs then the information below may help you.
SYMPTOMS
Inability to load the PC Pro cover CD Browser with error messages claiming that specified BMP files cannot be found or read.
Trying to load the specified BMP files into another program such as PaintShop Pro gives an error saying the file cannot be read.
The problem only occurs under Windows 3.1.
CAUSE
The problem is caused by your machine running an old version of MSCDEX.EXE. We have provided an updated version on the cover CD in the same directory as this file.
INSTALLATION
Locate the MSCDEX.EXE file which is loaded in your autoexec.bat file. It may be in your root directory or in your Windows directory. Rename this file to MSCDEX.EX$.
Next copy the MSCDEX.EXE file from the CD to the same location as your old copy. Then reboot your machine.
If you experience any problems with this process, remove the new file and rename your old MSCDEX file to its original name.
