  3.  Welcome to mIRC 5.1, an Internet Relay Chat Client.
  4.  
  5.  mIRC attempts to provide a user-friendly interface for use with
  6.  the Internet Relay Chat network. The IRC network is a virtual
  7.  meeting place where people from all over the world can meet and
  8.  talk.
  9.  
  10.  To IRC all you need to do is Connect to a server, Join a channel,
  11.  and Chat!
  12.  
  13.  mIRC will guide you through these initial stages and hopefully
  14.  you'll be chatting in no time. If you get stuck or want to find
  15.  out more about a certain feature, just click on a Help button
  16.  in a window or browse the Help file and you should find lots of
  17.  hints to help you out.
  18.  
  19.  As you become more experienced you can also start configuring
  20.  mIRC's features to suit your own needs and tastes, features such
  21.  as colours, fonts, function keys, aliases, popup menus, scripts,
  22.  sounds and many others.

  24.  Remember to visit the mIRC homepage at http://www.mirc.co.uk or
  25.  one of it's mirror sites regularly for the latest information,
  26.  as well as for links to other mIRC and IRC related information
  27.  and websites.

  29.  To be able to use mIRC, you need several things:
  30.  
  31.  1. Access to the internet.
  32.  2. Software for your machine that connects you to the internet.
  33.     mIRC requires a WINSOCK.DLL, of which several versions are
  34.     available. You will need this before you can use mIRC.
  35.  
  36.  To use the 32-bit version you must be running a 32-bit operating
  37.  system and a 32-bit winsock.
  38.  
  39.  Once you have installed mIRC, you can run it, fill in the required
  40.  setup information, and connect to the IRC server.
  41.
